New Ebay Feedback Rules!

Jan 30, 2008 9:50 PM
According to ebay, we as sellers are no longer alowed to leave negative feedback. This is obsurd! You all have had that one buyer (or many) who dont read your listing correctly and complain, or return for no good reason, or claim the item was broken and kept it and expected a refund, or never paid. We as sellers have to pay fees, make up the money in shipping and if an item was broken, we rarely recieve money back from usps, ups, or fedex, so we end up paying double. Leaving Negative Feedback is our right to protect ourselfs from ignorant, rude, or people who just want something for free. Dont get me wrong, I love all most all of my buyers and I love ebay, but For the people who misuse the "buyer" advantage, we as sellers end up having to "Pay BIG Time". Any of you sellers out there who feel the same, contact ebay and let them know how you feel, or even tell them if they dont fix this we might just have to take our buisness elsewhere. Thanks All and Good luck.

New Ebay Feedback Rules!

Feb 1, 2008 10:40 AM
i wrote to them at suggestions@ebay.com and explained to them that this is a big mistake. if they want to change the rules and have the buyer only be able to receive positive feedback then they should help the seller to by making it a rule for buyers to read the auction and they should make it a rule that before leaving any negative of neutral feedback the buyer is to contact the seller first thru ebays my messages and if they do not do this they should not be allowed to leave a negative. they should give the seller 3 days to respond even though we respond sooner things happen you know. i think this would be fair because how does a seller know there is a problem if they are not emailed it is just not fair. Ebay should make it a fair playing field for both the buyer and the seller because in actuality you need both not just buyers because if you do not have sellers you do not have buyers plain and simple.

New Ebay Feedback Rules!

Feb 3, 2008 12:37 AM
Amen, when I first read that I thought it was a joke! echobonbon and journey8 made excellent points. Here is some more to think about. I look at buyers who have the current high bid and check their feedback (both received and left for others) and if there is a lot of NEGS I cancel the bid and block the buyer. Now that buyers (and I do buy as well as sell) can only receive positives...how are we to tell who is good and who is bad? If a buyer has 10 positives...he could have had 30 transactions but only 10 of them were good...the other 20 could have been NEGS or Neutrals...but we will never know that!

Ebay says it wants buyers to leave "honest" feedback, as if the 500 plus I have now are lies? A buyer doesn't have to leave me a positive if they don't want to...no one is forcing them to. I also agree that now buyers can nitpick and even ebay has come up with a term called feedback extortion. It would seem that if you have this new term then maybe you already know your idea is stupid. Good members are gonna get screwed. If a buyer screws me with feedback extortion, then the return feedback may look like a positive, may count as a positive, but it will be WORDED like a Negative.

Either leave it like it is or make it only positive or nothing for both parties.

New Ebay Feedback Rules!

Hey everyone, I totally agree with your statements! I cant believe that Ebay would consider this Feedback change a "positive" thing. What are they thinking? How can sellers ever feel assured they will get through the selling process without some "evil" bidder who wants to make your life miserable for a while? I know that this is rare, but I have had that experience and it was pretty awful. I buy and sell on Ebay, and treat all the same. But unfortunately we know that isn't always the norm. We have to stand up and let Ebay know what a huge mistake they are making. Just as Classicgamer101 said, Leave it alone, or make it only positive feedback for both buyer and seller!

New Ebay Feedback Rules!

I don't think sellers should be prevented from leaving negative feedback for buyers. However, I am also frustrated by sellers who leave a retaliatory strike for every buyer that leaves negative feedback. This seems like a tactic to scare buyers into not leaving negative feedback when they indeed should. How do we solve that problem?

Hi euchredog,
I completely agree with you : both sellers and buyers feedbacks are necessary (I am actually only buyer). But I regret that eBay does not give anymore the possibility of calling up a list of all "negative feedbacks" of a seller or a buyer : at the time being we are obliged to search for getting them ..and find out what were the reasons , and eventually find out that it was just a vindict. I think that I would hesitate to become a seller
if these new rules are really applied this year.

New Ebay Feedback Rules!

am planning to write you frequently to express my shock and disbelief at the proposed new feedback system. As a seller with 100 percent feedback, how am I to warn other sellers, or ebay for that matter, if I encounter a slow or non paying bidder? If your new system includes a three-strikes and you're out policy for NPB, that is extremely unfair to sellers who will get stuck holding unpaid merchandise for weeks while a FVF is reviewed. Believe me, sellers will flee and buyers will run amuck. Though I understand the intention of the new rating policy, I do not think it will have the effect that you desire. I am considering my other selling options at this point. I guess if ebay drives good sellers out, a competitive entity will not doubt emerge. Think Microsoft and Apple, Google and Yahoo. Who will the next behemoth auction house be? We'll see.

New Ebay Feedback Rules!

You know it seems that all ebay wants to do is force everyone to become power sellers. They have offered me this option quite a few times, and I always refuse. When i'm buying I try to steer clear of power sellers ,because all it means is that your item will be delivered in a few weeks or a month because the seller has to much packing and shipping to do,so there always the worst experience.
When I pay for something immediately I want it sent within a couple days. And that doesn't happen with power sellers!
In a separate issue has anyone else recently figured out how much money were already giving to ebay & paypal just for the service of selling our stuff ? OUCH it hurts !I never realized how much they were getting,I need to pay closer attention,I thought this was FUN at 1 time, but the fun is almost gone! Greed the story of life

Well, stupid is as stupid does. When I start getting negative feedback for no reason and don't have a chance to resolve the problem first, I going to hang it up. eBay won't get my average payment to them of $700.00 a month anymore.
I'll open my own .com The protest strike is 18-24 feb.

That's an unfair statement.

There are bad Power Sellers and there are bad small time sellers.

Not all PS sell a lot of items at one time. The PS designation comes from the $ amount you sell, not the number of items you sell.

I buy from PS and have had prompt shipping. You need to read feedback and look at the shipping stars. You can then determine if they are a fast shipper.

New Ebay Feedback Rules!

I AGREE WITH EBAY. I am just a normal guy who buys stuff from ebay once in a while. HERE IS WHY I AGREE: BLACKMAIL. EVERY SINGLE PURCHASE I HAVE EVER MADE FROM A "POWER-SELLER" comes with the added bonus of getting screwed. They don't ship until they're GOOD AND READY, they DO NOT COMMUNICATE AFTER MULTIPLE EMAILS (I GUESS THEY ARE JUST TOO BIG A COMPANY AND TOO GOOD TO ANSWER A QUESTION), THEY ARE OUTRIGHT RUDE AS HELL AND COULD CARE LESS. After waiting for weeks to get your simple item, and going through hell to get it, they DEMAND you leave them positive feedback or they will screw your feedback with a FALSE negative, DESPITE THE FACT THE BUYER PAID IMMEDIATELY AND DID EVERYTHING IN HIS OR HER POWER TO COMMUNICATE. This type of slimy extortion is the absolute FILTH of ebay and I'm SO GLAD IT'S OVER. I know that sellers do have a few buyer issues, and I know there's non-payers out there, but when you look at the big picture, you have all these 5000+ transaction sellers, who are affected very little with a negative feedback, but the guy who has a feedback of 15 stands to lose a lot more when a seller blackmails him into lying and saying his or her transaction was wonderful and peachy, therefore leading other new members into the trap. Thank you eBay, for cleaning up the mess!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Levi.

New Ebay Feedback Rules!

One simple statement! No sellers, no buyers, no ebay! Something ebay needs to seriously think about! Maybe we need to assistance ebay with this realization. If we sellers join together for just 24 hours remove all merchandise, no sales for ebay to claim fees on. After just one day of mutli-million dollar loss, I can not help but ask myself how will ebay treat their sellers then? Do not misunderstand me, I am not say the buyers are not important, they are ALL VERY IMPORTANT TO ALL OF US. However, a little respect as to who does all the work and pays all the fees for these sales is all I believe we are asking. I have to ask Mr Cobb want were you thinking???? Or were you thinking? Maybe your mind was on the golf course? You know the one we sellers (our merchandise & our fees) helped you pay for! Lastly, Mr C.E.O., the merchadise is ours (sellers) not yours(ebay). We build Ebay, we can bring it down if need be. Lord knows there are many other websites, auction, etc.. that have attempted and would love to become the next ebay, may be it is time we sellers assistant them with that aid. So as my posting started, let it end saying the same statement: no sellers, no buyers, no ebay, it is truly that simple!
