eBay Community, Pay it Forward, Lets get Bobal to eBay Live Boston 2007

Hi All,
We all know Bobal and all the help he has given to so many of us and the eBay Community. We can't bear the thought of an eBay Live without Bobal. We will be looking at a whole new set of Logistics to get him to Boston for eBay Live 2007 but we, the eBay Community can do it.

This will be a form of "Pay It Forward" for all of us who have been touched by Bobal through-out the past 8 years. I will be talking to PayPal tomorrow about setting up a "Get Bobal to Boston 2007" account, if it can be done. Any PayPal Pinks out there with a suggestion or any help?

Bob can fly on a couple airlines that will accept oxygen, so that is not a problem, it's just a bit more expensive. His power chair can also fly, so there is no problem there either. The best and easiest way to get Bob to Boston would be via Private Corporate Jet, if you have any contacts, please let me know.

Please keep your eye on this thread as I will be posting information as I get it on how we will "Get Bobal to Boston 2007".

Pay It Forward, This is a challange that we, the eBay Community, will accept and strive to complete.

A dedicated paypal account is a great idea and should be able to be posted here on the boards. However, the easiest way, is to send the donations and personal messages directly to him. Bob responded to each and every person who donated this year by email or snail mail. He is truly a gift to this planet! He is a generous man and will donate all funds above his expenses to the MS society. You can email us directly at wsb966@cs.com for information. With 11 1/2 months to go, we will be sure to raise the money, but ultimately, it is up to Bob to accept the generosity of the ebay community. Thanks and have a great day!

I guess I am not supposed to go to bed early. I did and look what happened, holy moly. Drew, among others have asked me to go to Boston, (make that several others). He had emailed me and I ended up telling him this.


"Hi Drew,
It sure isn't that I don't want to go, this is my life for over eight years. I just don't see a way that I can do it. I have some others that want me to go and are trying to raise money to get me there.
If I say no, some get upset and wonder why I can't accept their money. If I say yes, I feel like a beggar, so I am between a rock and a hard place.
I am going to leave it up to you and others to see what options the are for me. Maybe I can sell some things around the house, Lord knows that we have to much "good junk" around.

Hi Bobal,
You are not accepting anyone's money. You are accepting their appreciation for everything you have done over the years. As I have said, this is a way for the eBay community to "Pay It Forward". Anything we do to get you to eBay Live 2007 will come back to us when we need it. I am a true believer in "Pay It Forward" and have been the recipient of this mindset in the past. It has NOTHING to do with money.

I am so in agreement Drew! Bob, you need to understand that this is not charity! Anymore than your 8 years of teaching so many, so much is charity.

Hi, All...

When I spoke with Bob at the Gala and said our "Goodbyes"...I said "See you in Boston!!" He told me "It's just not possible"...WELL...Let's make it POSSIBLE!!! Count me in...we need to get BOBAL to BOSTON! This man is an inspiration to all of us and LIVE certainly would not be the same without his presence. We need to make it happen! Let me know what I can do.

I have an idea. I just want to run it by you guys. Can we put up auctions and have Bobal in the title? Sort of like having auctions for Bobal or Bids for Bobal. The money made from the auction(s) can be donated to help Bob get to Vegas. If you like the idea you guys can figure out the particulars. Let me know what you think.

That's exactly what I had in mind. Everyone put up an auction of a personal item. It the title put "Bobal to Boston" and use the funds to get Bob to Boston. It could be like a big yankee swap. It will work best with personal items, the more unusual the better, as it will mean more to the person receiving the auction goods. Use your imagination and I'm sure we can have a good time doing it!
