iPhone 1.3 FAQ

We have had a great deal of emails from users of our latest iPhone application release and we would like to make sure you get the answers you need. Please see below for answers to frequently asked questions.

Q. How do I recover my user name or password?

A. Please go to this page which walks you through the recovery process.


Q. How do I register to use the eBay iPhone Application?

A. You can use your normal eBay login details. If you have never used eBay before then please go to this page and enter the required information, you will then be ready to use the eBay iPhone Application and any other eBay websites.


Q. How do I pay for an item I have won?

A. To pay for an item you have won using the eBay iPhone Application you need to go to the main eBay website using a computer (www.ebay.com). You can pay for the item by logging in, going to your myEbay page and selecting the item you want to pay for. There will be a link on the item to take you to the payment flow.


Q. Can I sell an item using my iPhone?

A. Currently we do not support selling items through the eBay iPhone Application. Please use the main eBay website to list and sell items.


Q. Can I view completed items on the eBay iPhone Application?

A. Currently we do not provide the ability to view completed items on the eBay iPhone Applications. Please use the main eBay website to view completed items.

I have not been able to log in since the update. I have no problem logging in to the full site via Safari on the iPhone, but am told over and over I have the wrong log in info when using the app. I can't be the only one?

You are not the only one... this is very frustrating. i am a relatively new iPhone user, and have NEVER been able to log into Ebay using the Ebay application.

The error that i get is:

"Login Error: Invalide user name or password. If you are using a PayPal Security Key, please append the security code to your password (T35)"

It would be great to get some understanding of how to fix this problem. Obviously, i'm entering the correct password, and logging onto the actual Ebay website is no problem.

A. Currently we do not provide the ability to view completed items on the eBay iPhone Applications. Please use the main eBay website to view completed items.

The new update now has completed items! One suggestion, though: please change the color for the unsold items, or do something so the sold items stand out. That would make it great for quick glance results.

an iphone app allows me to transfer files using bluetooth on the iphone. Can ebay integrate this feature in its app to share deals on ebay with my friends using bluetooth? wouldnt that be good?

I'd love to be able to have a different set of toolbar buttons for sold items. So I could mark items as dispatched, etc.

When are you going to release this for the peoples living outside of the states? I'm pretty eager to get my hands on this app... but unfortunantley i live in Sweden. :/ Can't se any reasons for you not to release it to the rest of the world.

The app is currently available in the following countries:
Australia
Austria
Belgium
Canada
France
Germany
Ireland
Italy
Netherlands
Poland
Spain
United Kingdom
United States

We will be enabling more countries with our next release, but we have not locked down the complete list of new countries yet. I will post when we know the full list.
