Can I use photobucket to place my pictures in my listings?
Nov 11, 2009 07:53 AM
I have been using photobucket to show pics on the boards, and I was wondering if I could use it to place my pics when I am listing things?
If so what link do I use?

When I follow your instructions i end up seeing a picture that says "This photo has been moved or deleted" with the photobucket logo.

The picture is still in my photobucket account, has eBay patched this "cheat"?

apetric94, eBay has fully supported sellers using third-party hosting for images in their descriptions, and has not made any changes to prevent it.

If you haven't deleted the photo from your account, changed its filename, changed its location in your account, or changed the name or location of its album or any parent albums, there is an error in your code.

The code gives a URL (web address) containing the location and filename of a photo on PhotoBucket's servers. If there isn't a file in that exact spot with that exact filename on the Photobucket website, the photo will not be found, and the error image will be shown in its place.

Try copying the image code again and see if it works for you. If not, post back here and let us know.

MY EASY WAY: Note that this only seems to work with Internet Explorer - I can't do it with Chrome or Safari ....

In Photobucket, I click on my picturet in order to have a large view instead of the thumbnail view - then I right click to Copy . Go back to eBay - Place my cursor where I want my picture in the description and click Paste.

I have also been able to manipulate the size of the picture right there within the description.

It works for me everytime.... so far :)

Thanks Nate, it's funny how something so simple can enhance your listing beyond belief.  With the right camera, proper terminology, & competitive pricing, all sales can be met without a doubt.  Your tutorial is greatly appreciated!!

What you need is a good  Image Editing Program.  There are many free downloads on the net...just do a search for Free Image Editing.

One of the easiest and best (not for industrial-strength photographers) is Serif.  I use their Photo Plus version, a free download.  Have been using it for years and it's awesome for my regular picture needs.

Image sizing is simple, brightening up a "too dark" photo is simple, ....many options to choose from.  Simple program for a simple mind!  (That would be me!).

After you've worked on and saved your photo's to your pc, upload them to Photobucket.  Then come to eBay and it's all downhill from there! :)

Good luck!

I use photo bucket, but I do not put in the code. I right click copy the image then right click pate into my listing it is less work and looks better because you can resize it in the listing. Also I have never had Photo Bucket remove any Image and I have been using it for years...

When I tried to insert the picture from photobucket, it worked, but it was huge! I even re-saved it as a smaller image, but it was still very large.  How can I correct this?

Thank you!!

Our recommendation when using photobucket is to set albums as private and link directly.  Do not buy for higher transfer rate unless you have 1000+ listings.  We use PB for all our listings and never go beyond the maximum transfer rate.  Keep your account completely free.
