Why We Need Info About Your SystemIf you would look around at different topics on this board, you'll see board regulars post the same ole' questions time and time again:What Operating system are you running?
What browser are you using?
What uploader are you using?Sometimes members reporting issues get frustrated with the board regulars when they ask the same questions. When looking from those member's point of view, I can understand where they are coming from. Why do we ask those same ole' dumb questions every time someone reports a problem? What do those questions have to do with you having a uploading problem?
Why Do We Ask These Questions?
Because we are not sitting beside you on your computer, we cannot look around and see what type of Internet connection you have. We can't look at the programs installed on your computer or look at image files and formats. We also don't know what uploader one may be using, the browser that they use or even the operating system running on the computer. All those different things play a role and can be involved in uploading issues.
So help us help you by allowing us see those things by listing them along with your post.
What We Need To Know
When preparing your trouble ticket, please be sure to include the following information before posting so that we can provide the best answers.
- What eBay image uploader are you using to upload your images to eBay? (Basic, Standard, or Enhanced)
- What operating system are you running? (a Windows Edition, Mac, etc)
- What web browser are you using? (Internet Explorer, FireFox, Safari)
- Do you have any Security or Firewall applications installed on your computer? (Norton, ZoneAlarm, etc)
- Do you get any errors when trying to upload? If so, what does it say?
Believe it or not, this post is just the introduction to several troubleshooting guides prepared by regular eBay members such as yourself. Before posting your issue, you may find answers to your questions in the following troublshooting guides. The troubleshooting guides below are specially written for each uploader; Basic, Standard and Enhanced. You'll also see some resources regarding self-hosting. For the best user experience, I recommend finding the specific instructions just for the uploader you use, then follow each tip for that certain uploader one step at a time. Some of the tips may look daunting to the casual user, but take each tip one step at a time. And of course, you can always start a new topic on this board for special support.
Searching The Forums
You can also use the Search function available specifically for the boards to find loads of information. For example, if you are getting an error code, search the boards for the specific code to see how others solved the issue. This can be done by clicking on the "search" drop down section located at the top right corner of the sub-header and then typing in the specific term you wish to search for and clicking the "Go" button. This action will then search all posts on that board for that term.
