Is anybody else more than a little disappointed by the new photo format? The pictures are smaller, the "zoom" feature is glitchy and marginally useful. What was the problem with the previous format? I'd really like to see a return to that. Plus I've noticed my saved searches no longer work and the overall ease of use of just about everything seems to be degraded a bit.

Did ebay recently change the photo format?  Is this the reason why my photos use to be 863px X 1020px and now they are 500px x 436px?  I have been on the phone with ebay asking about this.

As a store owner, all of your photos should enjoy free Picture Pack, which includes supersize and zoom.

However, when I looked at listing 160786601198, I see that this enlarged photo is zooming no larger than 500 pixels in the popup window, even though eBay is hosting an original that is 863px × 1,020px.

The new display presentation with the popup window is what the original poster was complaining of, but that new presentation does not include smaller photos.

We have recently seen problems with photos hosted on an outside image host, where eBay was unsuccessful in retrieving the hosted images. So instead, eBay inserted the URL of the outside image in the listing and did not create the zoom option. eBay needs to successfully retrieve and rehost the photo in order to display the zoom option.

If you are using an outside image host on some of your listings, you may be occasionally encountering that problem.

I am slightly confused.  Are you saying this is a ebay problem?  There are two different sources here.  One ebay is using for the picture and another one where the image is full size.  Please explain if you can.  Also my images are being hosted on ebay not outside of ebay.

addicted2shirts, yes, this may be an eBay problem, since they sometimes lose a few in the cracks when they upgrade the system and others have reported the same issue. If so, you could upload your photo again to see if eBay assigns the larger sizes.

We have also asked whether eBay will automatically upgrade all photos to supersize and zoom when Free Pictures roll out in July. If they can do so, your supersize photos would return automatically.

But it could also be that Picture Pack was somehow turned off on your end. Go to your selling page in "My eBay" and checkmark a few listings with the problem. Then choose "Edit" to access the bulk editor. Checkmark a listing on the bulk editor and click "Edit" for a drop list where you will select "Listing Upgrades". See if "Picture Pack" is selected on the popup.

Are any of your new listings with newly uploaded photos experiencing the same problem? Where are you uploading photos? A listing service, or the eBay SYI (sell your item) form?

Hello

Ok picture pack is turned on so thats not the problem.  It happens now with all my listings new and old.  I list with a custom made api program but never had a problem in the past.

Thanks

Was Picture Pack already turned on, or did you just turn it on?

Picture Pack can not be applied after the fact. It has to be on when the photos are uploaded.

Do you have an example of a newly created listing where I can check what photo sizes are available?

I looked at one listing, and the 500 pixel (_12) photo was displaying rather than the 640 pixel (_58) default photo that I normally see in the popup. With Picture Pack, however, I would expect to see the 1600 pixel (_57) photo.

Some members had a similar problem recently with Turbo Lister displaying 500-pixel images. After updating the program, the correct sizes were applied. Some of us found that even after updating TL, if we edited a Turbo listing using SYI, and then synchronized, the smaller photo returned.

It's hard to tell what is in your API application, but it is possible that it now needs to call another feature.
