eBay is extending the shutdown period for eBay Picture Manager to after the end of January, 2010. Current subscribers will receive an e-mail confirming this change and site pages that currently display the shutdown date as after "August, 2009" will change within the next day or so to display "January, 2010".
We've extended availability of Picture Manager to allow current subscribers, particularly those who have their listing pictures embedded in the item description, additional time to migrate to another solution for including pictures.
Note that pictures and picture upgrades added via eBay per-listing picture hosting are free for Premium and Anchor Stores sellers and to all sellers listing in the Antiques, Art, Collectibles, and Pottery&Glass categories. Picture Manager subscribers who have an upgraded Store or list predominantly in those categories can save on fees immediately by unsubscribing from Picture Manager and using per-listing picture uploads.
Also, the Sell Your Item Add Pictures form supports a
Copy Web Files "uploader" which makes it easier for sellers who manage source pictures on their web server to add optimally sized eBay-hosted copies of those pictures to their listings. This feature may be useful when unsubscribing from Picture Manager if you decide to manage your pictures on a web server and want to continue to have multiple pictures display in the eBay picture area on listing pages.
