Hi hailesjewelry,

If you submit a square original, the Gallery picture in List view will be 80x80 pixels and in Picture Gallery view 96x96 pixles. Submit a rectangular original and the Gallery pictures will be rectangular, 80 and 96 on the longest side, respectively, for List and Picture Gallery views. The other side will be shorter since the proportion of the rectangle maintained as in the original.

Remember that Gallery pictures are resized and compressed when created. For listings that use eBay Picture Services, they are created from the 400-pixel picture used on the item page. If you use non-eBay hosting and supply a separate Gallery URL, we recommend that the source picture be at least 400 pixels on the longest side; if it's smaller, picture quality of the Gallery thumbnails may be reduced when they are compressed.

GALLERY PICTURE ON SEARCH PAGE TOO SMALL

Sep 23, 2006 1:11 PM
I am accustomed to creating an 80x80 image for use as my gallery photo and hosting it on my own server. It now appears under the 'new improved' listing interface that I must upload a 400x400 image to my server, then allow ebay to use it INSIDE my listing AND also to resize it to 80x80 for use as my gallery image. Since I host my own photos, I don't need the picture inside my listing. I don't need ebay picture services. All I need is a decent looking gallery photo, which I used to be able to achieve via an 80x80 image that I created/optimized myself and that occupied at worst 10 kb of storage on my server and that took NO time to upload. Worst, the ebay-resized version of the large picture I am now required to submit is of far lower quality than MY own 80x80 image. Since I am paying for gallery, why can't I control and optimize my gallery image to look how I am paying for it to look? Does anybody know how to thwart this new method? Does anybody know how to get to the "old" listing interface once ebay has decided it's time for you to use the new one? THANKS!
