I understand about the free pictures. What I DON'T understand is why ebay is not doing it for ALL categories. Seems unfair. We do not sell in those categories, yet have been with Ebay for 10 years. We primarily sell books and media and it would be VERY helpful if we could take the pictures that we used to take when we used AOL, which was fronts, backs or books, and copyright pages, etc. It would also help to define these categories as lots of people STATE things like first edition, when in fact they aren't....but if they could take a FREE photo of the copyright page...it would help. PLEASE consider free photos for all....not just a select few.

We've observed that some sellers in the categories where pictures are now free are utilizing free extra pictures, but not the Supersize option, which is also now free and enables a much larger picture to display when a buyers clicks the picture at the top of the item page.

Here are some guidelines if you sell in those categories and want to utilize free Supersize:

1. Select the free Picture Pack option box in the Add Pictures window before uploading your pictures. Supersize can only be enabled by selecting Picture Pack on the US site. (Other sites may still have a separate Supersize option.)
2. Upload large high-quality originals. The source image dimensions must be a minimum of 800 pixels on the longer side to take full advantage of Supersize. We recommend a source between 1000 and 1600 pixels on the longer side, created or saved with high JPEG quality. (Do not use commands like "Save for the Web in your image editing program). eBay servers process the uploaded source picture using a high-quality image processing library to produce copies at sizes eBay needs for different uses. The copies are compressed at a JPEG quality that allows them to load acceptably fast for buyers on slow internet connections.
3. If creating new items using relist or sell similar, which normally re-use stored picture copies from the original listing, and you want to use Supersize, then you need to remove the pictures and re-upload them to create new copies on eBay servers, following the tips above.

The guidelines are similar for sellers who list with Turbo Lister, except that the user interface for selecting Picture Pack is different. In addition, if you want to add Picture Pack to saved items and templates, you should first delete the existing pictures and then add them back to the items.

Agree totally and have written ebay. Very unfair and not a smart policy. I have been selling since 2001 and feel ebay does not value me as much as sellers in "Other" catagories.

Not giving free photos to all slows down ebay. Sellers use third party picture hosting and they alway cause entire storefronts to be downladed really slowing down those looking at listings. It is so slow, not even fun anymore to look for something.

Ebay should host all pictures free and charge money for third party picture hosting.
Ebay does not get it. Make pics free for all sellers.

Hi I'm new to ebay selling and want people to know that I was having problems uploading pictures to my listing. I tried everything in the help menus and contacted support but they weren't able to help either. I finally got my pictures to upload though, this is what I did. First I had upgraded to Internet Exployer 8 and that is when all the trouble started. A lot of sites just are not ready for the upgrade yet. So I went to a new web browser Mozilla Firefox and I also updated my Kodak site that I use for my pictures. Everything is superfast now and working great. Hope this helps someone who may be having the same kind of problems.

I have been a buyer for many years, and have finally gotten up the courage to start selling yesterday. Trying to upload a photo to no avail and it is very frustrating!

I think I still use IE 7, not 8. If I switch over to Mozilla -do you have a link? - does that mess up anything on my computer, like my Homepage MSN, my Google bar or the way my Address bar is set up? Thanks!

It did change some things for me but I think it's better. What picture loader are you using? I have Kodak Gallery. What I had to do before was right click on the photo and send to... desktop. Then when I went to upload I would retrieve it from my desktop. Now that I am using Mozilla I still send 1 picture to desktop but then when I go to upload it they are all there (whatever pictures I had downloaded together at the time). Hope this helps. Leah
