Self-host gallery images not working.... help?
Sep 18, 2009 07:35 AM
We are trying to ween ourselves from the soon-to-be-defunct picture manager, but the other options I keep reading about are not appearing. This board says these changes happened in Feb & March, right? Did I miss an announcement or something? Is this not up & running yet?
The only options I have on a listing are pic manager and self-host. There are no other options for the new picture services when I add or remove options on the SYI form.
So I managed to figure out the html to put my photos directly in the description on these two listings:
400070519899
and 400070522700
But the gallery images are simply not working. There is obviously nothing wrong with the photos. Ebay's server is not generating the gallery image. What is wrong with this? I have asked ebay for help over a week ago, but I get no response. I already had offers on these items despite the lack of gallery image, so I suspect I would have sold at least one of them by now....

Thanks for your help!

The reason why eBay cannot process the gallery images is because you did not use the correct URL's. Here is the two URL's that you used for the gallery images: http://www.photoshop.com/accounts/6b838644033844f59726d5c779227d98/assets/513091cbe5bb445e9c978d2250287037 http://www.photoshop.com/accounts/6b838644033844f59726d5c779227d98/assets/5b12d96d91024156857b6f84a88f1884 Both of those links are actually linked to an actual web page, and not the actual images. The links that you paste in the self-hosting slot must end in a image file extension such as .jpg, .gif, or .png. Go to this page for example: http://www.photoshop.com/accounts/6b838644033844f59726d5c779227d98/assets/5b12d96d91024156857b6f84a88f1884 Right click the image, and select properties. You will see location, which a URL to the right of it. That is the actual address of your image. Here is the correct URL's for your gallery images: http://api.photoshop.com/home_6b838644033844f59726d5c779227d98/adobe-px-thumbnails/5b12d96d91024156857b6f84a88f1884/fullsize.jpg http://api.photoshop.com/home_6b838644033844f59726d5c779227d98/adobe-px-thumbnails/513091cbe5bb445e9c978d2250287037/fullsize.jpg Note that the first image uploaded through eBay's Picture Hosting slot is FREE. So if you wanted, you could simply load the image from your hard drive.
