Re: EBAY TOOLBAR....

For those using Internet Explorer 7, with Ebay toolbay greyed out and unable to select it to show up.

Open browser and select "Tools" from menu bar.
Then select "Manage Add-Ons".
Now select "Enable or Disable Add-Ons"
Scroll through the list and find Ebay Toolbar and Ebay Toolbar Helper. Select and enable both.
Next time you restart IE, the toolbar should be there in all its glory.

Regards,

Andrew.

Your browser has the ebay toolbar disabled in add-ons. To enable goto tools, manage add-ons, enable or disable, then enable.

Hope this helps B-)

try this: I downloaded the toolbar and I was not able to select it from my list of toolbars. It was grey instead of black. I had to click on "tools" then "manage add-ons" then "enable/disable..." find the ebay toolbar and "enable" it!

However the toolbar , although visible has not symbols and just says sign in for advanced features. It is permanantly grey on the bottome toolbar too. I am using ie7 and vista! It has only recently started doing this. help anyone. btw have reinstalled at least twice

Yeah, this is a common problem it seems. I can load the toolbar, and it even shows up on my IE8. However it will never recognize my login and thus will never provide alerts or any connection to my account. I have tried to load the toolbar on 2 different Vista machines and get the same results. When I talk to Ebay about it they kinda act like they are clueless that there is a problem. I am not sure if it is an IE thing, or a Vista thing... but the toolbar has a problem dealing with something. I also have a XP machine with IE8, and the toolbar works fine... although that was in there when I was running IE6 and then upgraded to IE8. Never did IE7.

Anway, Ebay needs to fix this problem ASAP. It is preventing us from spending money, which then makes them lose money.

Re: EBAY TOOLBAR....

Hi there
I too am having problems with the ebay alert toolbar. It worked fine yesterday but despite all my best efforts (uninstalling and re-installing several times, rebooting my computer, checking and unchecking my add-ons etc) nothing helped. The icon on my task bar, bottom right-hand corner is now grey-scaled (instead of coloured) and everytime I try to sign in for ebay alerts it signs me out. Also the little coloured icons on the top task bar have disappeared....I only have one (My eBay) and the words 'Sign in for advanced features'...and when I do try to sign in for advanced features it just signs me out again! And then I get a little alert at the bottom telling me I have signed out of ebay toolbar......doh!
I phoned ebay support (25 mins at premium rates......mmmm!) but they pretended to have a word with some techy guy and then came back and said they had no problems at their end and weren't aware of anyone else having any problems.....How very annoying - some help/support they were! BTW - I am on Windows XP using IE8. I don't think this has anything to do with the problem however because I have been on XP & IE8 for months and up until this evening had no problems whatsoever. Anyone have any ideas????
Cheryl

Same problem here after re-installing XP, the sign in button is there but will not sign in, all settings, exceptions and enables are as they should be, yet no sign in, and as usual ebay say all is fine, well if all is fine, why are so many of us experiencing the exact same problems?

Count me in, I finally downloaded the toolbar after about a year and new OS. The options button did nothing and every time I signed in the toolbar it would just ask me to sign in again.

So regretfully I deleted it after a few wasted hours searching/reading for a solution and finding none.

Has anybody heard anything new from support ? Don't like that Yahoo garbage in there but I miss the eBay alerts!

UPDATE- Talked to support just now and it was a pretty easy fix. I just need to use my default security settings. Anyhow, I downloaded while a very nice Rep waited (just to make sure) and it worked. I even took all the Yahoo stuff off except one big red Y in the middle of the tb. Oh well I'm happy that I have my alerts back! Hope Take Care.

Scratch that. Toolbar worked till I signed out then I couldn't sign back in. After an hour and a half on the phone with support I got nowhere. Wish that gal that helped me yesterday was on. Guess I'll wait till they fix it or get a working one.

good morning, I am having the same issues as posted above. I've tried the manage add ons. I've had this version installed on the same machine with XP and IE8 for a long time. This happened before and I found an older version of the toolbar that worked better. However now even that has failed. I've tried the managa add ons and security setttings to no avail. Hopefully they get this figured out soon. Have a wonderful Remembrance / Veterans Day.
