Does anyone have a clue who the maker could be on this? It is marked 585 FB. It has a fairly unique look to it, maybe someone has seen something similar? Also, the rhodochrosite has a couple of small pits in the top, is there a way to have them polished out, or just better to leave as is and not risk further harm? Thanks for whatever help you can provide.

Hi u2,

I cannot help with the maker, but with the stone, it looks like a very high dome. You may be able to get it polished without removing the stone, depends where the "pits" are.

Cute ring, can't help with the maker though. Sometimes when I've tried taking a small surface pit out, you can run into a larger one. You just don't know what might be hiding under the surface in some stones.

I agree with you on the high dome and might be able to take the 'pits' out. I've cut so many stones that I ran into a pit so I try cutting it down/out only to run into a larger one LOL

I better get back to work.

guess I'm spoiled in my cave, AC and all! ;)

Try cutting opal! You got really great fire but it looks like there may be a little more just a little bit deeper. Then, ALL is gone! You just got a rock to throw into your driveway!

LOL, gotta love cutting rocks! Win some, lose some!
