Can anyone help me with this piece? I was advised to bring this here after a big discussion on jewelry & gemstones. I believe it's jade, but it's almost white!
It also has what possibly could be a ram's face/head at the top; I first thought a bull, but the horns are curled. It also has a simplle, thin, circular piece of silver circling it that holds it with tiny claws. It's marked sterling near the pin - but on the circular support.
Is jade white? Is it old - with such a simple holder?
Is it worth anything more than the silver?
What does the ram/bull mean?
Any help is very much appreciated.
PS - In one photo I am holding the piece into the sunlight - another suggestion by the group in Jewelry & gemstones to determine if it's jade (in photo taken w/flash, some thought it looked like mother of pearl.
