Effective immediately: Half.com terminating Gift Certificate purchases

Hi all,

Effective 11/05/2009, new gift certificates will no longer be available for purchase on Half.com. Gift certificates purchased to date will continue to be honored during checkout on Half.com as per the Gift certificate terms and conditions outlined here:

this sounds more like a sign of doom than anything else. Do you have any reasoning "why" these changes are being made?

Is this a sign of things to come?

You have basically just told us that Half.com is shutting down in the not-distant future.

well, lawdy lawdy!
that would simplifiy my selling life a bit
(come to think of it)
since I really don't like most of the 'bay's recent evolutions
I'd end up taking my books and playing elsewhere
if there wasn't a Half.com over here.


Disclaimer: I only fall into Southern-isms when the terminology I'd prefer to use would get me slapped ... either for pink or for real!

Hi All,

Please be assured that Half.com is not shutting down. In fact, we have had a fantastic year so far and we look forward to bringing you more site improvements in 2010.

Also, I would like to reiterate that any existing issued gift certificates will continue to work on Half.com. We just won't be issuing new gift certificates.

How odd. It's Holiday Time, when people would be buying a lot of gift cards and suddenly they are no longer available. It really doesn't sound very good.
