Ok I went to the link and saw the ebay fees.

I did not see what the shipping allowance is per book.

What's the benefit of having my listings also appear on eBay? You'll get additional exposure for your listings without any additional Insertion Fees. Are there additional Insertion Fees for displaying my listings on eBay? No. There are no additional listing costs associated with having your Half.com listings displayed on eBay. Am I charged Half.com fees or eBay Final Value Fees? Half.com items sold on eBay are subject to eBay Final Value Fees and PayPal fees. Half.com items sold on Half.com are subject to Half.com fees and shipping premiums. Will I be charged a shipping premium on eBay? All Half.com items sold on eBay are subject to eBay and PayPal fees. Since eBay does not charge a shipping premium, Half.com items sold on eBay will not be charged a shipping premium. Is eBay limiting the number of listings per seller for media categories? eBay is not limiting the number of listings that a seller can opt-in. However, sellers will only be allowed one listing per product and condition. Sellers who have more than one of the same item in the same condition should use multi-quantity listings when listing on Half.com. How do I manage my Half.com inventory displayed on eBay? Continue listing on Half.com as you do today. For most sellers, that's through the Sell Your Item page or FileExchange. If your item sells on eBay, you'll need to manage your listings via your eBay account. The sale will not be reflected in your Half.com account or via Half.com's FileExchange tool. Your inventory will be removed from both eBay and Half.com once an item sells on either site. To help you manage your sold inventory, your My eBay selling record, including eBay's File Exchange tool, will show where your inventory was listed and sold so you can clearly identify Half.com inventory that's sold on eBay.com. If you are a large seller (your sales volume exceeds 10,000 items per month), then you will need to use Selling Manager Pro to manage your sold listings if you choose to use the eBay site. Why do I have to have a PayPal account? All Half.com listings that sell on eBay are paid using PayPal, so you need a PayPal account to receive payments. Also, we are implementing "Immediate Pay" for buyers. When you receive an order for a Half.com listing, you can be assured the money is in your PayPal account and can ship immediately. When will I receive payments for Half.com items sold on eBay? Payments for your eBay.com sales are deposited immediately into your PayPal account. Some transactions may be subject to transaction level holds per eBay's policy. What if I don't want to accept PayPal? If you want your items to appear on eBay but don't want to accept PayPal, you can list your items directly on eBay. What does this mean for Half.com? Giving Half.com sellers the opportunity to have their listings appear on eBay will expand visibility for Half.com listings and give buyers on eBay more value and selection. ---------------------------------------------------------------

Looks like half won't take a portion of the shipping--they are callin it the "shipping premium", but we will get "dinged" for the full paypal costs. ---------------------------------------------------------------

Would I recive * The Date I Listed the Item on Half.com * in The Sale email

That is how I (And many others) On half.com keep track of Inventory

Example: I get You have a SALE email

It says Date I listed the Book(Item) on Half.com
THEN I go to THAT Box that has Taped on its Side the Date I listed the contents of that box on half.com

And I find the Book in That Box

And Send it on its way

If it does Not have the Date the Item was Listed on Half.com in the Sales Email (Or SOMEWHERE)

Then I (And Many others will not be able to do that)

Just Like I (And many Others)had to Opt Out of Ebay Express

So is that Date on there or not

and if not , Can you put it in there ?

Pretty Please
:)

Still doesn't say what the shipping cost to the buyer will be. This is especially important as the USPS costs go up in May.

midnight... I'm thinking they are handling this just like Ebay Express based on the info they provided. Customers will be charge the same as they are now, our reimbursements will be for the full amount, less paypal fees on the total for the sale (onpaypal that's calculated on price & shipping) and then we'll have to pay FVF's ---------------------------------------------------------------

Wonder how THAT's gonna work.

Nala,
I forgot - What is the percentage charged for a paypal transaction?

I would like to work out the math formula.

Will a buyer be able to purchase more than one item and receive a combined shipping discount?

What happens if a buyer wants to purchase a Half.com item and an eBay item from the same seller? Would these be separate transactions? Would the items have to be mailed separately?

This is an interesting development.

I think I might be interested, but I have noticed that sometimes items listed on here go for less than what they go for on the bay.
Or vice versa.

I wonder how this will affect the prices??:|

Interesting I might have to start listing on half again. I am going to wait and see how it shakes out.

Hmmm, I don't have a PayPal account because I've never sold on eBay side, and the purchases I've made (like my digital shipping scale) took credit cards so I didn't need one.

Also, do you have to have all of your books linked if you opt in, or can choose to do just a few? This goes back to the debate on offering expidited shipping. Many of us would like to exclude heavey books that sell for low prices from being offered as expidited because the $5+ doesn't cover the cost of shipping and packing matterials.

Beware a few posters do not think much of half.com sellers and their products.

Translation: Ebay's next attempt to get rid of half.com and lure sellers from an orghanized site into the hopeless chaos that ebay is, at way higher fees in the end?

The announcement say in part: "Your Half.com listings will be displayed on the media product page but not in standard search results." I don't see how this is going to help us much if the book is not going to show up in standard search results, after all isn't that how 90% of sales are made on ebay? I have no idea what the media product page is, maybe I'm missing something.

I read through all the info and I am willing to give it a try. If it results in more sales without all the work of making Ebay listings, that would be great.

I do have a couple of questions:

First, the "Sell On Ebay" link on the "My Account" page on half doesn't seem to be there yet. :) (At least I can't find it) You might want to correct that, unless you tend to hold off on it until it is actually possible to sell on Ebay.

Second, the return policy - will we be required to accept returns? And also, would this return policy be completely separate from the return policy we would have on any Ebay listings?

I can see upsides and downsides to this. I guess we'll see how it goes.

Re: Half.com Sellers - Your Items Now Included on eBay

I am excited but concerned about this. These are some things that I think need to be addressed before the change in May. Currently the link doesn't come up that was for HDC sellers in the announcement, so if these issues were addressed ... oops!

#1) PayPal charges a .35 PER TRANSACTION fee plus 2.9% or more (depending on the type of account you have) for the final sale price including the shipping cost.

#2) Who sets the shipping price? If they set it the same as HDC .. BUT we get to keep it all it will offset the PayPal fees. International sales?

#3) Are they going to change the minimum pricing on half to comply with ebay’s fixed price minimum? Currently, the minimum price for half is .75 while ebay’s is $1.

#4) What is the exposure that HDC sellers will get? Will it be a level playing field or do PAID fixed price insertion fee listings go above us? Store listings? Mega sellers?

#5) This doesn't change the fact that the catalog is incomplete and just plain poor quality.

#6) Multiple sales will need to be enabled so that buyers can have a better shopping experiece and be able to combine sales. Ebay does allow you to set up combined shipping rules BUT if I am understanding this right ?buyers WILL NOT be able to even see our HDC listings? when they click on "see sellers other items" through Ebay.

#7) "Best Value Box" is rarely the best value ... it is a Marketing Tool ... when I can look down the list of books available and find 4 or 5 better bargains from small sellers with an outsanding feedback rating. I feel like I'm being conned.

Reasons I'm EXCITED!

#1) International Sales.

#2) Instant payment through PayPal.

#3) More exposure (I hope).

#4) Ebay buyers more likely to leave feedback.

#5) More exposure, more sales, power seller status, reduction of final selling fees on other items.
