In addition to the ISBN search mentioned already, HoE items can also be found with a title search, though it does take some additional steps.

1. perform title search

2. click on [Products and reviews Beta] tab

3. click on the matching product

4. click on the See All Listings link

Notice the half.com listings interspersed with the eBay listings.  The HoE listings are evident by the dashes [---] in the Time Remaining column.

Also, Auctiva's scroller will pull up HoE items, at least it did for me when I had fewer eBay items listed.

"ebay also charges a Shipping fee now. Sellers would put the cost of the item in the shipping instead of just shipping, Now eBay charges the shipping fee. The shipping fee is the same as the Final value fee.  You are charged Final value fees+Shipping fees+paypal fee."

Huh?  Can you provide a link, reference, cite for eBay charging a shipping amount?

The sellers on eBay set the amounts to the best of my knowledge.  The fact that ebay now includes that shipping amount in the total upon which the fee is levied is relatively new.

Oh!  Just realized, this is an eBAY thread.  Must have a special exemption.

I was amazed too!

Especially since I tried posting the Newbery Awards to the original "NEWS" thread, and though it looked good, it never showed up on the board page.

Nor could I find the old "THanks for payment" thread after all palavar from last month from newbie sellers about payment.

This new configuation gets stranger and stranger.

Hi  tknowjunk2,

Two criteria for Half items on eBay (HOE).

One: priced at $1.00 and up.

Two, findable through ISBN search only most of the time.

I have yet to see any of my half.com listings show on my ebay site.  I know it will not be a "normal" listing; but how will anyone see it, if I can't find it.

Please advise WHERE it is located on ebay and how a potential customer would find said book.  Thank you.

:( I am frustrated with the listing process, in that the ISBN or UPC is the only way that eBayers can search for my half.com listings. None of the announcements made that clear, only mentioning an un-defined "media product page" that never appeared when I searched eBay for that term. Since only a few people will bother to search eBay by ISBN or UPC, why doesn't eBay want my listings to appear easily and increase my sales, and their PayPal fees??? p.s. to the devil's advocates who mention the 5 cent listing fee, I end up paying more in fees for the convenience of the half.com listing process...
The search process is an issue. But, they do adjust so that your costs are the same as on Half. So in effect NO PAYPAL listing fees. BUT: if you have to refund, they do no credit back the Paypal transaction fee for the Refund, and you have to go through hoops (e-mail Half.com - which currently is up to a 60-90 Customer Service response time) to get that back. Not worth it!

Oops! You're probably right. Since I was never interested in Paypal except in relation to eBay, so didn't have a choice I opted the basic business. It was s-o-o long ago, I really didn't remember the difference.

Or Two, your account isn't "Business" but personal and needs to be upgraded (costs nothing, doesn't make a ton of difference - except in this case).

Let us know.l

Don't Paypal personal accounts allow receipt of money with no paypal fee, whereas Paypal business or premium accounts have paypal fees deducted from incoming funds? (That is a difference and cost)

Two possibilities: there have been mucho site glitches this week. Give it a retry. Maybe using a different browser. Also, as always the old "have you cleared cookies and cache"? You must be familiar with the Ebay search again and be able to jiggle the parameters in certain ways to find the books by methods other than ISBN.

Shouldn't be a problem for newbies.

HEre is my original post on the subject:

Re: Get your Half.com listings on eBay Today!

Okay folks, this morning I spent a bit of time trying to figure out how a buyer might find our books without an ISBN number.

Try this:

Pick a listing of yours on half.com. (pay attention to your price/condition)

Try searching on ebay one of two ways.

1. scroll down to the bottom of the main half page for your book
2. look for the ebay listings at the bottom
3. click on "find more on ebay"
4. on the ebay page that appears look on the left hand side for the limiting parameters
5. fiddle with the search until you get to a page that shows ....fiction,non fiction
6. depending on your book...choose a category
7. "picture" listings should then show up
8. click on the one that matches your listing
9. look for your condition category.

or
1. on the main Ebay page, change the search from general to books
2. type in the Title
3. look on the side, clear all choices (for eg, softcover)
4. scroll down and look for a fiction or nonfiction link
5. matching products including yours should show up
6. choose your book, look in your category

I am fairly certain that the reason is Half-originated listings only come up if the ISBN is used in the Ebay search

I have found that this is NOT always the case, I have posted earlier in this thread how someone could find your books without ISBN.

You must be familiar with the Ebay search again and be able to jiggle the parameters in certain ways to find the books by methods other than ISBN. ISBN is the easiest, most direct route to finding books.

eBay listings are a free bonus to us. I have sold many video games on eBay thanks to this new widget. Hopefully things will change in the future, but i'm happy we get some more support.

Since May, my sales on Ebay v. Half are about 1 to 100. I am fairly certain that the reason is Half-originated listings only come up if the ISBN is used in the Ebay search. Based on the books sold on Ebay, most of these seem to be textbooks or other books most likely to be used in college courses, and frequently the result of student searches using lists of ISBNs from their teachers.

I think sellers should make a concentrated effort to ask Ebay to change this search so that Half.com listings come up with the conventional title/author search that most people use. Even a link like "Half.com listings starting at $price" would help.

I would check site policies for listing guidelines.

matthew_7.12, you should definitely do this, as a quick check of your listings shows that you would need to make some changes after reading the Half listing policies.

matthew_7.12, SEARCH BY ISBN, NOT TITLE, AUTHOR OR ANYTHING ELSE.
