Folks,

I wanted to give an update on the site issues with checkout. The frequency of the issues has been reduced dramatically, but we are still seeing some errors, as you all know.

The tech folks have been working on this all day and are working on it this evening and through the night if necessary. I have sent them all of your reports of errors plus screen shots of my own checkout problems. Loni from CS is working with them as well to get all the reports going to CS documented for them.

My own problems seemed to center around trying to use 'speedy checkout'. I was able to check out fine when i didn't try to go through 'speedy checkout. For those of you having issues with buying, perhaps that could be where you are getting hung up too?

I really am truly sorry for these issues, and I so appreciate your helping us get to the bottom of it all. I can't thank you enough for your patience and your continued contribution to getting the site working correctly.

Folks,

There are still two issues with the site that we are working on. The problems do not appear to be impacting all users, so it's been tricky to replicate them and therefore diagnose them. However, they are both being worked on actively.

What would be tremendously helpful is if you could continue to send me examples. However, in order for us to use the data you send, we need the following information.

user name
date, time of error
error message received
url of page where you were before the error message
url of page of the error message
steps you took


I am hopeful that this will be resolved soon and I truly appreciate your patience through this. Thank you.

Got the update...It looks like the 'page not responding' error has been isolated and a fix will be rolled shortly. There may still be an additional issue affecting a limited number of users, re arribada, so we are still running that down. --asb

One more issue that I didn't mention is the miscategorization issue...they have isolated the problem and are working on a solution. Not sure on an ETA there, but I'll keep you posted. --asb

Folks,

A few updates...

1 As some of you probably saw, the miscategorization issue has been fixed, and affected listings were removed. The underlying problem has been resolved, so these items can be relisted.

2 We are aware of some intermittent inventory snapshot problems and are investigating.

3 Apparently, some of the check-out issues are very specific to certain configurations of browser, machine, router, and other variables, so we haven't been able to consistently reproduce the errors. Tech has been reaching out to folks that they see on the boards with problems to try to isolate the causes, so don't be surprised if you get a call from one of them to both help you get through check out and better understand the cause of the problem.

4 We are having some intermittent issues with inventory snapshot that are being investigated currently.

5 Another thing that will be preventing check-out is if a session has timed out. The message that a session has timed out is not displaying correctly, so a user might see a more generic message and not understand why they can't check out. We are working to fix the message that says that a session has timed out, but in the interim, the solution in this case is to go back and add the item to your cart again and proceed through check out.

I think those are all the updates I have for today. Thank you all for sending me error examples. I have been sharing them with tech folks all week, which has been very helpful.

We are still getting some reports of problems checking out. Both technicians and CS are reaching out to users that report these issues to try to narrow down the cause.

Again, I'm sorry for the delay in resolving the last of the issues. Thank you again for your patience and for your help in getting to the bottom of things.

Folks,

The problem updating credit card info appears to be happening for those with D-Link routers. Folks with D-Link routers need to update the router's firmware software. The link to update the D-Link router software can be found at:
