Can anyone tell me any more on this set. Makers mark is GK & F. The knife and can opener are dated 1941 and are a brushed stainless. The knife and fork are dated 1942 and are a

polished

stainless. Found in an WII duffle bag with uniforms and other era clothing in an attic clean out.

I know there are fakes out there but this is not one of those.

Pretty common German utensil set.  They were popular trophies with US troops because you could use the canopener easier than the one that was issued with the US K rations.  Also since eveything could be kept together it lessened the chance of loosing one of the utensils.

And you can't list it here unless you ignore that pesky winged symbol that eBay won't allow.  There is one on current auction that looks like that's been scraped away.  It's a nice item for campers.

Gebrüder Kugel u. Fink, Lüdenscheid

but watch out. when it looks too good for age or bought on ebay: there are fakes around, newer Bundeswehr ones that were stamped with old marks.
