Decorating Your Home - A specialty thread

gotta-chat
I just wanted to add a little of my recent experience with hearts. I made a rug for one of my ebay clients in Lime green with a Heart in the center she said it worked well with the room that she was redoing. I would download a photo but I really dont know how to do that on this. I make custom rugs of all sorts and have a few pink ones for sale as well as a pink heart up right at the moment.
Hope to see the end photos.
Take care Lorri

Hi lorripohl. Welcome to this board. I am going to include the directions that I have saved that will walk you through the steps in order to post photos. It really is easy.

OK, pictures are easy to add.

1. Get a photo-hosting site. I use photobucket.com Their low-end service is free.

2. Once you open your account and answer their e-mail, you are in business.

3. Log in, and then select browse. Upon hitting browse select the folder where you have your photo (disc, desktop, wherever) and click on the photo you want to add. Now hit OPEN, and then save. I scan and save mine in the jpeg format.

4. Scroll down and you will see your saved photo. Beneath it you will see 3 URLs. Just highlight the middle one, and then right click to copy.

5. Come over to a thread and hit paste-and the URL will get put here.

That is all you need to do.

A word to the wise-if you are on the Internet first, and then log into photobucket you will get knocked off the Internet. What I do is open photobucket first, and then minimize it at the bottom of my screen. I then get into ebay, and toggle between the two if adding numerous photos.

And photobucket only lets you use letters and numbers while naming photos. Don't use $#$%@ these sorts of characters in your photo names.

Decorating Your Home - A specialty thread

I love this thread!!! When we bought our first house two years ago, I started by looking at each room and deciding on the feel I wanted for it.

For example, dining room I wanted elegant/formal and I knew I wanted the walls red.

In my stepdaughter's room I wanted sunny, fun and eclectic style so I went with an orange serbet color with slightly darker sponge paint over it. I collect hanging fish art...so hung that from the ceiling and my step daughter loves anime(which really looks good with the orange background).

Master bath I wanted a french wine country feel so started with a leaf green paint and sponged on several shades of purple including a very dark purple...added white vases and white shower curtain and of course, art of wine country...would like to add crown molding/lighted at some point..

You get the idea tho...picture the style and feel of the room then select colors to compliment...we like modern contempory and I'm an abstract artist, so we kept the living room and foyer area ultrapure white to show off my art(and the art I collect from others.

Hope this helps! What a fun thread! Oh and my favorite decorating mag is Metropolitan Home:)

Warm Regards,
Pam

Casabella thank you!:)
We just got done painting again LOL!now the family room is buttery yellow and one of the red walls in the living room is the same buttery yellow. I guess I am one of those people that like change and color.
Do you know on almost the EVE of a new hurricane season we just got finished repairing our roof and repainting the fixed damaged wood from the 3 hurricanes two years ago!!!
Best Wishes!

oh, cool thread, my first time posting here :)

Anyway, I need to do something with our kitchen. I am thinking about changing the curtains, right now I have sage colored ones, and a valance on a window above the sink. The counters are blue, like powder blue, i would say...the floor is white with very very subtle blue pattern....appliances are all black, and the fridge is stainless steel color, with black trimming..sooo...I tried blue curtains, and they just look dull. Maybe I should go with black curtains? valances, actully, like Waverly Harbor Square pattern? I am not sure they are appropriate in the kitchen, but I love the pattern....
(thinking aloud here )

Hi Bellas - There is a better picture of the pattern you like here:

Link

I think it is gorgeous. There is no reason you couldn't have that pattern in the kitchen--it's even got fruit and some blue accents in the leave to tie into the floor. Much more up to date than what you have. Black is hot for decor. Go for it. Kim

I would love to see an ebay decorator's showhouse. My 13 month old daughter's room is mostly furnished with ebay finds. I call it shabby chic meets Lilly Pulitzer. I will have to take some pics tomorrow and post. My favorite magazines are Country Home, Country Living, and Creative Home. I have the tendency to just buy and hope it fits in, now I'm trying to downsize and keep pieces I really love.
