I closed my store. The new fee structure is beyond what a small seller such as myself can handle. Good luck to those that can stay. .

I will be doing the same. Hope to sell much of the inventory first with some sales. But I will be closing it. Bobbie

I am seriously considering closing my store as well... How can they jump from .05 listings to .20 listings and expect people to stay? I hope they reconsider.

A glance at your feedback page would show eBay that they are losing a valued participant. Unfortunately I rather doubt that the people in charge will notice, or bother to do that, and the ones assigned to read this rather one-way "discussion" group will have no authority to respond in any meaningful way (as in: I doubt that they are empowered to do anything that can persuade you to stay). I'm sorry to see you go.

They don't expect people to stay. They want all the small sellers to leave. The thing is, I was once a small seller, and now I am a Platinum powerseller. What would have happened if they made these same changes two years ago? I would have left, and that would have been one less powerseller.. Don't just look at the listing fees, take a look at the final value fees. They are also going up, and I guarantee the hit we will take on Final value fees will outweigh listing fees 10 fold. Now, they are not only affecting small time sellers(which by the way, the small sellers is what makes eBay such a unique place), but they are also affecting the large sellers, such as myself. Instead of paying these new fees, I am going to transfer most of my inventory over to a private website.

I will wait until March and consider following my fellow artists in selling the majority of my pieces from my own website. I'm going to contact the many ebay artist friends (most have already left ebay) I have, and see if we can create a network. Meanwhile, I'm going to work out all the html code and additions I'll need for my website. So sad, I'll miss the ebay community.

I was shocked last night when I read the email I got from ebay. I did some figuring and will spend the rest of my day closing my store too. I can't believe that ebay's big announcement is "list for as little as .03 per item" They don't add to the announcement that the low price is only if we pay $249.00 a month upfront. I think I'll try Bonanzle.com to list my store items. Linda

Unfortunately, I will probably have to consider the same thing. I ran some numbers last night and because I am considered a small seller, the fee's are just gonna end up making it not financially worth my time to continue with ebay on this level. A lot of my store items, I have to sell for a dollar or so, and with the new increases, it will just pretty much kill my profit margin. I've weathered the storms here with ebay for 10 years now. But I think that this will probably end up being the final blow for me.

My listing last week had 92 watchers and my pieces almost always are 1-4 in Pulse. The collectors will have one less artist to follow.

This news this morning was heartbreaking. A year ago I was averaging 40 - 50 items a month 400-500 a month and it kept going up by Nov 900 and by Dec 2008 I made 1200, my profits were 25% of the total take. Than the markets crashed and sales plummeted. going from 600 a month to 300 to 200 and this last month I sold nothing. I had high hopes of opening a brick and mortar store until the crash. I did not mind the basic store because I could cover the monthly as well as justify the 3 cents per listing. But I do not have huge margins I was starting slow and eventually buyer more with higher profit rates. But at 16 per month and 20 cents per listing plus high FVF I can not keep up. The garage sale stuff I sell does better at just tha a garage sale. I liked ebay because it was fun and I did not need to hold a sale. But I probably made $1.00 an hour for the time I put it. It has been fun and allowed us to but 2 laptops and camera phones but I can't afford the new rates and the 99 cent auctions would be huge losses. We recently moved to a new house and I have been redesigning a new office to function better for my auctions and allow me to list more and faster. This is just heartbreaking. The liberals our out to destroy the little guy with big dreams. I survived all year but this is to much. I have no choice but to close my doors before March and most of my stuff is still in boxes so I still can't list a lot before the change. I hope to find the next ebay and can once again pursue my dream. I don't even buy has much anymore because I find new stuff cheaper elsewhere and even buying to resale is harder because the post office raised rates twice and now ebay. My $2 item now needs to sell for $8 and I can't compete against the guy paying 3 cents per listing and getting better rates so they can sell that item for 2 to 3 dollars. I have small sales but I have no negative feedback and have always tried to obey the rules and not over charge high handling fees. This is a slap in the face to the loyal little guy who tried to do right for his customers and not ream them in outrageous handling fees or prices. I feel I am the one being reamed and destroyed by the big guy. I hope this new structure destroys the core of ebay and they are force to open their eyes. Like the right tells the left you need to give the little guy the breaks because they out number the large corporations. In this economy they should be cutting fees not raising. They would probably get more business by charging 10 a month basic and 2 cents per listing with a 7% fvf and no double dipping and being charged by both ebay and paypal. They would probably get even more sales. But that must be want they want eliminate the little guy so the bigger ebay sellers have less competition and can charge more. Good luck with that one ebay Craig

I've run the numbers, and will be closing one of my two stores. The other I will boost to a Premium and see if the fees work on (based on the calculator sheet.) I have also made arrangements to open my own website store, which I've been meaning to do for years now. This will be the impetus I need. But it makes me sad, as the store I'm closing is the ID I've been on here since '98 with.

Transfer your items BEFORE you close your store. You can import listings over , and then edit to remove eBay wording. It could save some time.

Don't freak and jump right away folks, take some time and do some research. We have two months before the changes take place, at least eBay did that. Plenty of time to get other venues up and running.

I think it would be helpful as we sellers are closing our ebay stores to know where some of you will be posting or listing your items for auction. Thanks as I am definitely starting me search for a new auction site. Linda

My listings received a lot of notice - hits - at thesolexchange. Flat rate of $10 a year or $1 a month. Don't think it is good to, as they say, "have all your eggs in one basket." There's lots of places to sell. Bobbie

Thanks for the replies. It's no secret that I have been labeled an eBay Cheerleader by most in the Community in the past so I imagine its a shock to see this from me for some. I've got full-time classes to focus on there's no time for all this analyzing. I saw the pink posting that some of us are confused and if we upgrade we save money. For 226 listings at 21¢ each and a store subscription at $15.95 PLUS FVF's on the backend, I am losing money. That's only for a third of my listings that I had on the site. Anyhow, its closed now. I feel like someone kicked me in the stomach. .
