Anyone know the name of the band in that new Levis commercial where a guy dives into a river where his car just sunk into to get his French dictionary.......? The song was rather tranquil and wouldn't mind hearing more from this group.

Welcome joguitar and thanks for being the first to walk in the cafe door! Non-mainstream music is cool too if you have any background in that. I figure we hear enough mainstream music given plenty of airplay on the radio so the Alt. or non-mainstream music is of most interest.

joguitar, you can talk mainstream music but we'll have to seat you in the corner by the kitchen! lol!

The kitchen is one of my favorite rooms but I don't even have a clue about who they play on the radio anymore. Ever since I learned it's the same 2-3 people I've tuned it out. LOL

I'm into anything "rootsy" acoustic or electric. As long as it's genuine and unique I'll give it a try... If I love it, I'll give it what money I can afford...

We gotta get a solution for posting or swapping some MP3's for some of the visitors to this forum, me thinks. There's some wonderful creativity here and it would be cool to share that with others. I keep saying that and I'm looking so maybe something will work out.

I'm not up on MP3 sites but I'd think someone lurking or who's posted on the forum would know.

Moon.....good hidden face photo of Mr. Cobain. I am fairly new on the boards, just the past few weeks, but I will start posting on some of these interesting new threads. My musical interests run more towards punk and metal, with some old school country thrown in......faves would be Hanoi Rocks, Junkyard, The Misfits, and some of the newer ones ....Betty Blowtorch, Artimus Pyledriver (killer southern heavy riff rock), Acid King, Nebula....and on and on......

hardwareguys, Congrats! Yeah, it's so easy but I just wanted to shake things up...as I said, I could hear a guitar pick drop in here (echoooo-ing) thus the guess the pic contest! lol! I even flipped the photo so it looks like a right hand player but as you and I know, he was left handed. Punk is cool...it's all related and speaking of Kurt Cobain, he was heavily influenced by Punk music. Come again to Alt. Rock Cafe (ARC) or should I say, "Come As You Are"...sorry, couldn't resist that....

Sounds good Moon! By the way, I saw someone post about where to get good alt rock MP3's believe it or not, I have found a ton of high quality stuff on MP3.com and they are all free, and legal (like anyone cares, but thought I would mention it...) I have found the best way to search for good stuff is to do a search for a band you already like, then click to look at similar artists.....when bands post MP3's on there, they get to fill out a list of bands they sound like/influenced by...some of them are total crap, but lately it seems there are quite a few good bands on there. Something to check out if you are looking...... I have been downloading and burning a new 15 song CD every weekend, then I bring it to work and listen to it the next week....works for me. Any other suggestions from anyone?

hardwareguys, good MP3 lead there! I've been there but didn't surf enough to realize the possibilities. Unfortuantely, I don't have a cd burner but I suppose I could save it on my desktop. Their are a few musicians on this forum that would like to post their original material...could they do that at mp3.com??

Moon----thanks for the award! I have a lime green pick like that from a very strange, but great, band called The Voluptuous Horror of Karen Black....anyway, on the MP3.com question....yes, any musicians that are interested in posting their original music can do so, at no charge.......it also allows you to link your own personal artist webpage, upload pics of the band, etc... Anyone searching for good music there.....be patient...you may have to wade through some pretty bad stuff before you find the good stuff...but I have found quite a few great bands that I never would have heard ...and I have contacted several of the bands and ordered CD's direct from them.

hardwareguys, That's great news! I'm sure others on the M & M forum would be interested in mp3.com to Post Their Original Music. I may have to give Karen Black form TVH a listen....with a name like that and a lime pick..I'm curious!

I'm listening to this great single titled, "Bird of Prey" by Fatboy Slim. He took a Jim Morrison clip that I've never heard before and dubbed it over a dance mix..techno sounding or Trance....!
