Clarification Regarding Pinks, Moderation, and Boards
Oct 6, 2006 11:58 AM
Hi,

Given that there has been a fair number of questions pertaining to which pink manages which board, I wanted to offer a quick clarification.

In the past when the community was smaller than it is today, each board was managed by a particular Community Development pink (staff member). As the Community grew, this became less and less feasible. Although you may see posts from particular pinks, there is no longer a particular pink managing each board.

We have continued to develop roles and processes that help us to better serve the eBay Community. The Live World eBay moderation team is always on hand to review potential posting violations (via the enhanced report button feature). The assistance of the Live World eBay Moderation Team using this process allows for a more fair and consistent experience for our members. The Moderation team does not post to the boards.

To better understand moderation on the Boards and specific aspects of the Board Usage Policy, please refer to the Policy Explanation Board. There you will find clarification and detailed explanations of the policies. Most questions about policy and moderation can be answered from the material on this Policy Explanation Board. If you have additional questions, please use the "Contact Us" form to contact eBay Customer Support.

Additionally, I wanted to clarify that many staff members from a variety of teams at eBay will sometimes post to the Boards. Any staff member that posts will be identified with a pink stripe. As you encounter staff members on the Boards, please remember that many are not Community Development staff who can help to address concerns that relate to moderation or other aspects of the Boards. This includes category managers, product developers, marketing personnel, and others who may choose to interact with members in relation to the specific capacity at eBay.

Sincerely,

Avery
