Welcome.

Is the buyer already a bidder and you are going to sell it to her at her bid price? If so, click on this Link to end the auction, and click on " End My Listing Early form" selecting to sell to your buyer.

If you have agreed a price that is higher than an initial bid would be, you have to have feedback or be id verified to add a Buy it Now price for the buyer to purchase your item. This Link explains the requirements.

I had the very same situation as the OP with my 1st transaction. Once my buyer bidded and it was higher than the list bid, I simply followed the instruction on how to end the bid and sold it to the highest bidder, which in my case was the only bidder.

It's not always a good idea to sell an item early. Some buyers make an offer to get a steal on an item, especially with a new seller.
Check what similar items have sold for before taking an offer. You may be costing yourself a lot of money.

I took an ebay selling class at community college. What you just told the lady is exactly what we were told in class. Sometimes they see you are a new seller and want to get the item now because they know you will probably be able to sell it at a much greater price if auction goes its full length. *I am learning much from your comments on this discussion group. Thanks for all your insite.

I was very satisfied with the price I got for my 1st transaction through ending a bid early. Maybe I could have gotten more, maybe not. It's a chance one takes.

BTW, I also took an ebay course at a local university. We didn't discuss ending bids early.

Many buyers use a sniping service, that doesn't place a bid until the last 10 seconds. When you end a bid early you eliminate all those buyers from the process.

Just curious if you checked recent selling prices before you sold?

I see some items listed for more than I sold mine for, but no items that have sold for more. All that I see have actually sold for less than mine.

If you only had one bidder, and if you didn't have a reserve price, the winning bid could not have been higher than your starting price.

You're partially correct. She bidded more than my starting price but the system didn't show the actual amount that she bidded for some reason and I had to add the difference as shipping cost. I had forgotten that was how we did it.

No, I'm totally correct, as you just explained. The bid didn't go up because she can't bid against herself, so as I stated, the winning bid was the same as your starting price.

By selling it for more by increasing the shipping, you cheated eBay out of its full Final Value Fee.

Well I'm sorry as that was not my intention. The buyer was the one who suggested I add the difference as shipping.

Ok, you're totally correct.

If ebay wants to charge me the approx $.70 they lost, I have no problem with that.
