All my family, both sides, drank tea in place of coffee. All with milk and sugar. Guess my g and gg grandparents passed it on. My father drank his tea so strong the spoon stood alone. It was his morning ritual. My grandmother's solution to everything was a nice cup'a. Both brothers still drink a lot of it. I prefer coffee.
When my Mom first visited me in VA she ordered tea and was shocked when she was served iced tea. I had to explain she needed to order hot tea because tea here means iced.

apple beer came in a can like beer, but it was non-alcoholic. Had kind of a beer taste, but much better. I have never had milk in my tea. Guess I will have to try it sometime, but I do prefer coffee. Mom made very strong coffee; 'cowboy's coffee'. If a horse shoe sinks, it need more coffee.
