2 lb pkg to Canada, worth less than $25, postage cost & tracking?

Dec 11, 2009 8:32 AM
Currently I am shipping this item only to US, simply because to ship internationally with tracking seems ridiculously expensive.

I received a request from Canada. First class would mean about $8...no tracking, Priority small box about $11...no tracking, Priority medium box about $26...yes, tracking.

It seems to me it isn't worth trying to ship this to Canada. As I don't sell a lot of items to Canada, I can't consider the occasional fraudulent non delivery a cost of doing business. I really don't want the potential hassles.

Is there something I've missed that would make it practical to ship to Canada?

Thanks

Let the buyer decide if the cost is worth it. Don't worry about sending an inexpensive item via FCMI or in the small FRB. I do it all the time, to Canada, Australia, UK, most of Europe, Japan, and even once to Russia.

I do agree that full, insured, trackable PMI is a waste of money, but maybe the buyer doesn't.

You don't need the Priority Medium Box. If you pack it with your own box, the shipping would be $20.75 retail, $19.71 if you print the label online with tracking.

You don't decide if it is worth shipping this or not. The buyer decides whether they are willing to pay up the more expensive shipping to buy.

I always only quote my Canada buyer the lowest Priority International cost + handling + insurance. They decide if they want to pay up the shipping cost to buy.

I just have a Canada buyer, bought a pair of shoes from me 3 lbs. She didn't even ask for shipping quote before bidding. When I send her the invoice for $25.00 Priority shipping including handling & insurance, she just pay up, no questions ask.

I don't think PMI is waste of money. I live below Canada. When I first started selling, I strictly uses FCMI, they are always so slow, often took 3 - 4 weeks and often got lost. My buyers weren't happy. Once I switched to Priority, I never have a lost package anymore and they are MUCH FASTER! I had a Canada buyer in British Columbia got her package in 3 days!
