Anyone else seeing First class mail parcels delivered overnight?

Nov 3, 2009 2:12 AM
I'm located in Oregon and I stuffed two first class mail parcels headed to AZ & IL into the blue box at my PO on Saturday around 4pm and they were both delivered Monday. Has anyone else seen quick ship times like this from the USPS lately?

All of my Priority and a lot of my FCM is going coast 2 coast in two days too, but mailing two FCM parcels on Saturday and having both arrive Monday was pretty darn amazing. Thanks for your replies. I'm glad to see I'm not the only one receiving special treatment from the USPS. ;)

My FC packages have been traveling coast-to-coast in 36 to 48 hours for the past year or more, sometimes faster than Priority Mail to the same (or nearby) destinations.

Most recently, I mailed a FC box at 5:30 p.m. Wednesday 10/28 from a Seattle PO. It was delivered in Anchorage at 2:02 p.m. Friday afternoon.

A package dropped off on Saturday and delivered on Monday is two days.

Pretty standard.

Only one USPS business/mail day. Sunday doesn't count. If I would have shipped the item by Express mail on Saturday, it would have been delivered Monday, but at a cost of another $15 or whatever it is these days...

USPS operates and moves mail seven days a week so Sunday does count when calculating delivery time. It is pretty much the norm for PM packages shipped on Saturday from Massachusetts to be in California on Monday. About the only time it takes 3 days to ship anywhere is if I ship Friday.

My post office staffs employees on Sunday. I know that if I send something on Saturday, that it will be received on Monday--especially if it's local first class mail or Priority mail (even in other states). I know that's how mine works--perhaps yours does too. Next time you're there, ask if the post office keeps things moving along on Sundays. =)

Fine, you win. I was just comparing it to the other guys. If you ship UPS overnight on Friday and it's delivered Monday, they consider it overnight service.
