Returns

Nov 5, 2009 5:01 PM
Hello, I would like someones opinion of what I am thinking about doing towards someone who bought a pair of boots from me and they weren't even their size. I am going to reimburse the sale price they paid minus my listing and final value fee. I did state on my listintg that there was a 7 day money back return policy. What do you think. What are the consequences?

No big deal. If your victim have as many as two connected brain cells they will simply file a PayPal claim and get all their money back, bid price and shipping and give you a negative and low DSR's for your trouble. Soon you will go elsewhere and eBay and especially the buyers will be better off.

"I did state on my listintg that there was a 7 day money back return policy"

Sorry, but if you take Paypal, buyers have 45 days to file a dispute. If your buyer files a dispute, Paypal instructs them to send the boots back to you with DC. Buyer pays for return shipping.

Once Paypal gets delivery confirmation, they will issue your buyer a full refund of their bid+shipping cost. You may as well refund your buyer and hope they don't neg you.

Thanks
Well he could send me back a rock in a box, then where do I stand. He bought a pair of boots that were not even his size, now he wants to send them back. Now I'm out the fees. Is that how it works here on ebay, I'm new to ebay, but if it is I wont be around long. Thanks for most of the comments.

Isn't it possible to file a NPB to recover some of the fees?
I don't know how that works, or if it's allowable, just tossing out the idea.

No, a buyer who has paid can easily protest the non paying bidder and also report the seller for abuse of the unpaid item system. What a seller can do is ask for mutual cancellation if they are sure the buyer will agree. Then they get their fees back. Otherwise sellers don't get their fees back when they have to settle a SNAD.

Yes you could. But not if they made you leave feedback for paying. A refund from paypal in violation of your TOS is valid for a NPB claim. I have done it.

jusplayen, there is an "Ignore" link just below each poster's "picture." Just click it and comments made by that individual won't be visible, provided you are logged in.
