New account for spouse for purchasing, maybe future selling

New account for spouse for purchasing, maybe future selling

I've been buying and selling on eBay for 14 years and have had my Paypal account since I first heard of it. Since I am using my store again, I prefer to switch the odds and ends purchased for our household to a different account. I want my husband to have his own separate account and let him deal with it. Currently, my Paypal account is tied to a joint bank account and has credit cards that belong to both him and myself for back-up funding.

This should be pretty elementary I realize, but I don't want to miss anything. It's been so many years since I registered and so many things have changed I figured I'd get advise from experts who use multiple accounts.

I figure my husband sets up his own new account with his own e-mail address. He will also then need a Paypal account to pay for purchases. However, does he need a separate bank account? Our account is joint.Should I remove his credit card from my paypal account?

My parents have separate accounts with separate e-mail addresses and separate Paypal accounts. They mostly buy but occasionally one or the other will sell some random widget. If my husband should decide to do that at some point in the future I don't want it associated with my stuff either. (I'm hoping to some day persuade him to sell of some of his stuff that he "collects" that is just collecting dust, but again, don't want it associated with my store or account.)

So, where do I start?

you start by getting them to read and understand the policies here.

then you can just start an account as you did before. you can start a new pay pal account with his info and joint accounts as long as his name is on the card and account.

exsplain the pentalties , if he screws up , your account is affected as well. due to same household . and no interaction between either account.

best to use different computors if possible.

Thanks for the info. I knew the part about not having any interaction between accounts (shill bidding isn't it?). I opened an account for him last night on here so he now has a username. I haven't had him link up any of the payment info yet. I guess I will sign him up with a personal account. No need to upgrade him to premier at this point I don't think. Our bank accounts are joint, but we have separate credit card accounts so I will probably have him use the bank account I am not using on mine and his own credit card.

Using separate computers is not so much of an option. He only uses his laptop, but I use the laptop and the PC. There are times when I just can't sit in front of the PC to do my listings and need the portability, although I try to use it as much as possible because it is so much faster. Hopefully that won't bite me in the arse later.

He knows if he screws up my account I will kick his arse. I've had it for almost 14 years and don't plan to give him a chance to screw things up. He has had it drilled into his head that he will be a good little buyer and be prompt with his payments and leave glowing feedback and DSR's. I have schooled him thoroughly on the importance of those for sellers. I don't want to see any complaints about him being a PITA on these boards :) I also don't want random purchases like a bosu ball or DVD's or playing cards or LEGO's on my account that I want to use strictly for selling. I should have done this years ago, but back then most people did only have one account.

When I opened my account 14 years ago it was purely to purchase. Most people I knew didn't even know what eBay was. I had no interest in selling. I ended up selling a few random odds and ends here and there but didn't actually "become a seller" until after a several years. My husband always had me buy what he wanted for him since I was the only one with an account and for years he didn't even use the home computer. Things changed over the years and now he wants his own account, and I want to be able to buy random things for our house that doesn't clog up my seller account/fedback.
