Hi There's some fault in ebay. I can't change that when changing address, therefore I can't change address!!! I move from one country to another from time to time Was in UK, set now different country but the bloody ebay won't accept the phone number regardless of what I enter. Even when left blank it remembers the old one saying it's wrong! Ebay claims it's either invalid or too long! What should be in the first field what in the second? For example if I have an UK mobile with number 07755555555 ? Also other combination's of second country's number do not work. What a crap!! Any help appreciated  Thanks!!

lg404,
You will need to go to US's "live help" button and tell them you are changing country registration. Once they change the countries registration for you, you will be able to enter the correct information that is appropiate for your country. (including telephone)

I am new on ebay, and trying very hard to enter my phone number. I am registered in my own country and it keeps telling me the area code is wrong, or the format is wrong. no matter WHAT I do. please help me because your ebay link to a previous reply does not work.. The country is South Africa.

You have completed registration since you have an account to post so your number must have taken.
Are you trying to register an account with Paypal or upgrade to a seller's account?? If so you must go to the site of your registration and follow the rules there.

I'm having the same problem. I can't get to the payment stage because ebay keeps telling me my long-standing phone number is "not formatted" properly. I've tried every combination I can think of. Does anyone know what the right format is please??

Do ebay ever check these posts? I can't see any official response here!
I've got the same proplem and therefore can't pay for an item. I've sent a message to ebay help but have received no response. I'm thinking ebay may be too difficult to bother with. I'm sure the seller will be impressed if he loses a $2.5k US sale. aaarggh!!

Can't I confirm my account and start selling without having a landline telephone? because I just moved in the UK and I only have a mobile phone, but I can't register it. What can I do?

I have the same problem i want to change the phone number though it always says that i entered invalid number and nowhere is written how to write it correctly. I was going to write the phone number and thr adress of the compay in US which responses to recieve my purchase and than send it to my country.
Can anybody help me??!?!?

if you are not registered in the US , then you'll have to use your counties phone number. the computor sees you are registered in one country and trying to use a phone # in another. so it disallows it. so you'll have to use your regesterd one.

i found out the answer by a fluke shot.
For example, if your number is
+44-019-1234 5678
Ebay's format that will be accepted is:
(44) 1234 5678
the 019 is omitted.

same problem here. cant buy. they ask me to verify my phone number. what is the correct format i dont know. i live in cyprus the code is 357 and mobile 99 and six digit number. any help appreciated

Hope this helps.  it might go through , but what if eBay tries to verify it by calling at some pointin time? you'd be susspended if it doesn't work. best to contact eBay through help at top of any page.

Hope this helps. Sadly this is not working for me. I have successfully changed my registration from USA back to UK (should have done TWO identities, changing back and forth is a HUGE pain). All my addresses and phone numbers are correct, EXCEPT I have just noticed it has an American address still for payment and purchase pick-up. I tried to change it and it won't accept changes due to the phone number. I have followed ALL these suggestions, putting in the number many ways and it accepts none. Worse, it CLAIMS the phone number field in this address section is OPTIONAL!!!!!! CLEARLY it is NOT. Not impressed, eBay. Needs fixing.

p.s. Cannot contact anyone, it cycles through the FAQs and help sections, but never allows me to actually send eBay a message.
(It used to be an easier and cheaper site to use, so fed up now it's just not worth using! Ridiculous not to be able to contact them with a technical problem that is their fault.)

you are 0 fb as a seller any way , eBay only counts seller feedback that's less that 12 months old. all buyers have 100% for over 2 years , so most sellers don't look at buyer recieved feedback, only the feedback left. eBay doesn't make anything easy to change , so you'll have to keep trying if you want to use this id.

Keep trying?????? I guarantee it will NOT change that address. I have tried so many times I lost count. Here's trying: I spent over two hours waiting for the only source of "help" I could find (since this forum is not yet helping!)... the eBay online "chat" help. After waiting over an hour, I missed the first response by a minute. I got in the queue again and gave up after about 75 minutes. Resolving this is something I hope to do, but eBay is not making it easy and apparently there is no answer, or sympathy, from here! Sigh.
