Am I just having beginners bad luck or what?
Jun 19, 2012 07:09 PM
I've sold over 80 items so far... I know that's not a lot but I haven't had a single issue with anyone.... Last week I added the 14 day return policy (I was no returns before) and my first 2 orders since then... Both want to return their items. One was a nwot Michael kors bag and the other was a marc Jacobs bag... Both of these bags were in mint condition. The first buyer said the straps were too long.... I dunno what's up with the second buyer. Am I just having horrible beginners bad luck? Or is this typical? I wan to become a power seller but from the way things are starting out I might switch back to no returns. I am unemployed and I can't afford having to keep paying for these upfront shipping costs. What's the deal?

Am I just having horrible beginners bad luck?

I hope it's as simple as a couple of buyers trying things out and finding out they didn't like them as much as they thought.  You'll of course be inspecting these for since of use or abuse.

I wan to become a power seller but from the way things are starting out I might switch back to no returns.

These are the kinds of items that probably should be "no returns" if you don't have the budget to keep refunding.

Good luck...

Business has been so slow and I hoping with powersellers status things will pick up. But now I'm having second thoughts.

Personally, I'd give it a little more time.  The conventional wisdom is that a reasonable return policy generates enough additional sales to offset the occasional return.

But not everyone will get the same results.

FWIW, i glanced at a couple of your listings, and they appeared to be full of good pictures and measurements, so it looks like your doing well on that end.  When money's tight, I suppose some people just re-evaluate if they really need an item after they've received it.
