Returns: Should all returns get a RGA

Returns: Should all returns get a RGA
Jul 26, 2012 10:24 AM

I have a buyer who wants to return an item and has agreed to the return policy, but....she did not use the return option and instead is sending back thru the old method of sending and refund via agree to cancel transaction.

I feel she should have used the RGA so she can be tracked by ebay on her actual return status.

In her correspondence via email when she realized she would pay a restocking fee she ended her email with a :((((.   Which is a slight suggestion of negative feedback to come.

What a shame this is happening to you! I see you are one of the responsible sellers who have set up your return policy details as eBay intended.Hats off to you!

I'm not familiar with the RGA process and hopefully someone else on this board will give some suggestions.

It is a shame and just another oversite on "bay's" bright ideas. She will get to return and I will get negative f/b that will stick for a year.  I sure wish there was away to nip it in the butt.

Did you mean RMA? Return Merchandise Authorization?

those with restocking fees usually end up paying more themselves in the long run

Could you explain why you would pay more if you charge a restocking fee.

RGA OR RMA goods or merchandise..refers to same.

If your buyer files a SNAD, they'll get a complete refund, product+shipping, whether you like it or not...

This wasn't a SNAD, she "thought" they would fit her and they don't.  Second person this month who thinks they can purchase try on then return with out reading the full description on an item.

The restocking fee, I'm hoping,  will help reduce this problem.

At this point it's trail and error to see who comes out of the wood work.

May just go back to NO RETURNS but I'm trying to be open minded.

upset buyers may leave unwanted feedback , costing more in the long run.

some even go so far as to damage item.

also if you spend much time in dragging it out you lose that time/$$$

I have experience those scenarios already.  AND there lays the problem with the feedback system.

If you get a nasty buyer your basically screwed.

For instance:  why should I be stuck with negative feedback when my listing clearly stated accurate measurements and the size tag was missing.  Buyer leaves me negative for a truthful listing. HOW is that possible? Zero Communication from the jerk, just bad feedback.  I bet if Bay checked IP addresses  they would find that account associated with a deviate on my blocked list. HOW IS THIS FAIR?

Ebay Claims Feed back is an "opinion" well then "opinions" should not effect sellers so adversely.

Well...they say, the above does not violate a policy.  Isn't it a policy that buyer leave "honest" feedback.  Clearly there was a lack of integrity on the buyer and ebays part for allowing this type of behavior stand.

honest feedback? as it's an "opinion" it need not  be based on facts.

and opinions make or break a company , has for generations. buy 1 item from wal-mart and 1 from target , same item.

ask 100 people what they think of the quality of each seperately, i'd bet the one with the wal-mart sticker would be in many's opinion the lower quality. just becausae of the current opinion about things bought at wal-mart
