Buyers getting rubber stamp auctions ended early on high value stamps. HELP

Hi,
Would love some help on this one....I love to buy rubber stamps on ebay....but I am continually frustrated by bidding/watching an auction only to find it ended early--there are several ebayers out there who email the sellers who don't know they have valuable stamps and get them to end the auction early....it keeps the rest of us from having a chance to fairly win the auction--also as far as I am concern it is circumventing ebay fees...I have reported several ebay ID's doing this but to no avail! HELP!!!

You are allowed to end auctions early and sell to whomever is the highest bidder at that point. It is fair because everyone can do it, although I have never tried that. I suppose if it was something I wanted quickly I might ask them to accept my high bid so I could get it quickly.
And since you have no way of knowing if they are doing this outside of ebay you cannot really do anything about it, reporting it would be a waste of your time as ebay needs proof. I am suprised the sellers dont ride out the auction if they have more than one bidder though.

There is really nothing you can do about it.

One question, did these auctions have bids on them or just sitting there? If they had bids on them, I don't think that it can be ended early unless the seller cancels on the bids.

If it was sitting there with no bids, perhaps the seller thought it wasn't going to sell so they ended it and took the offer they got.

You can end it if it has bids also, you just sell to the highest bidder. That was what I was thinking they were probably doing. This is a case where bidding early would help, rather than watching and bidding at the end.

I'm surprised a seller would end an auction early if there are bids on it. Why not wait it out to see how the auction turns out?

Well perhaps they needed the money and were happy with the high bid. I have never been inclined to do such a thing, but who knows...

Someone recently asked me in an email to end my auction early and offered me a BIN amount. Since I did not offer a BEST OFFER and my BIN amount was gone because of bidders, I explained the purpose of the auction was to allow the highest bidder to win my auction. I didn't know how to end the auction and offer her a BIN. Anyone know how to do this? I don't think it's fair to the other bidders. Was I wrong? Does eBay allow this? I'm still new at some of this.

thestampingbird??? ... were the bids not high enough on the stamps ... so the seller withdrew the item because of not getting enough money?

I would think that would be against ebay rules, but I don't know.

It could be that someone made a higher offer on an item and the seller took the offer rather than wait on all the bidders.

myscrappingwhimsy.... just use your own judgement in accepting offers. Most of the time people just want to get that item cheaper. I look at it this way.... if they want, they need to bid on it. LOL

if they want, they need to bid on it. Ditto!! Whenever someone has asked me to end an item early with their offer, it's because they know a good thing when they see it and hope I'm clueless. I never end it early because experience has shown that the final bid amount usuallly trumps their offer anyway! (And that's the way I like it!! ;) )

If these are stampin up auctions being ended it could be because of Stampin Up policy. Stampin Up does not allow the sale of current stamp sets on Ebay. If someone reports the seller and the seller happens to be a Stampin Up Demonstrator, their auction can be pulled for violating the agreement they have with the company. Say a hostess set is being sold before it is released to the public (these go for $$$) those auctions can be pulled for violations.

I know this is a very old topic but it just steams me when I am watching an auction and it disappears. I email the seller and she sold it to a friend instead as the price was so low. I let her know how much she lost out on that decision. I also know it's a good way to lose customers as a fellow stamper told me what happened to her because of it. I always get the "reason" I need it to make cards right away but I don't bite as it hurts business and I don't like it being done to me.

I was wondering how you know which stamps have value. I came across quite a few and listed some. I'm wondering if there are pthers that I have that are more important.  Any help is appreciated.

Thanks

The only way I would know to tell you is to search ebay for each particular stamp and see what it is selling for.

Ebay has a new policy in place now to try and stop this from happening. Now when a seller ends an auction early to sell to the highest bidder, they have to pay an additional fee equal to the final value fee. So if they are still doing it, they must not mind paying double fees.
