Negative feedback

I am so slow at learning the ropes of ebay.  I had negative feedback about 4 or so months ago.  I had a friend say don't worry about it, it did bother me but what did I know?  It still is bothering me something terrible.  It was my own fault, I packaged an item at someone else's hoem who smokes and when the person recieved it they said it smelled of cigerettes.  I just found out that you can change your feedback, not sure how.  I was wondering is it ok to contact this customer and ask them if I can give them a refund and a free gift after this long of time?

Just forget about it, put it all behind you and get on with your life. At least that's what I would do.

My first negative feedback was very hard to swallow and in my case I even sent them an extra roll of wire they said was short.  It is packaged by the manufacture but I still sent them an extra roll and they still left negative feedback.   I had to just swallow it and move on, but it was still very hard to do as I worked hard to keep 100% feedback rating.  The best thing is to swallow it and move on.  Don't let that one feedback define who you are.  Just keep doing the best you know how, be pleasant and fare and no one can ask more of you.
