We would like for everyone to choose five of the charities listed below that you would like to see on the final list of approved charities for the quilt proceeds. The five charities that receive the most votes will be the five that are approved by Town Square to be the recipients of the donation. Everyone that is a part of TS is welcome to vote. Please vote only once. The voting will close at 9 PM Friday night. I've provided links to the charity BBB if it is available.

I'm very curious about how this list was compiled. I find some of the choices very unworthy of consideration For Those Interested In Making An Informed Choice PLEASE Check The Website Below! http://www.charitynavigator.org/

Fairlyodd, this is how the list was compiled:

All have been suggested by various Townies.

Thanks for that info - I'm a relative newbie to Town Hall & was unaware of the suggestion thread. I take it no other suggestions are being considered? Meaning no disrespect to the persons who I'm quite sure have put many hours of time and effort into this project IMHO from perspective of a newbie (we sometimes see things clearer because we are seeing them for the 1st time) who also happens to be a fund-raiser for a non-profit org, this it a fairly ill-conceived list based, I assume, more on how the regulars here feel about these charities rather than whatis actually known. I am SO impressed with this extrordinary gift of love that has been compiled, but I fear you may be limiting it's final value because your worthy cause is not as worthy as it COULD be!

Fairlyodd, thanks for the input but this is a community project and any community member was allowed to nominate the charity of their choice. None were excluded. We are past that now and are voting on those nominations to get our final list of charities.

If you would like to vote it would be welcomed :)

for me - i follow the philosophy: "charity begins at home".. so: (1) how about giving the monies to "ebayers" who have had catastrophic losses in their lives.. like a family who no longer has medical insurance and must keep a family member on some type of expensive medication.. or a family who has suffered some uninsured weather-related incident - like losing all their property from a tornado.. you get the idea.. (2) to me, this is better than giving the money to some organization that will use the funds for current payroll expenses and the like..
