north ~ yes, 12 weeks already; the heat is about to end our fresh tomato season until September when we'll put in the "winter" plants. Our "winter" here drops to a chilly 40 degrees lol - we actually have only 2 seasons. A glorious 7 months of spring (rarely needing heating or cooling) and 5 months of Hades lol. But I like it, believe it or not. Everyone has a pool - a necessity in the Sonoran desert
The fresh citrus is divine - all the lemons, limes and oranges one can pick. There is so much extra citrus that the foodbanks have all the fresh citrus they need
My grapes (green and red) are delish (tho the birds love them also...)
A friend raises chickens for organic eggs. I didn't realize the work that goes into eggs that qualify as "organic" - he even has to have the eggs periodically checked for their cholesterol lol! If it's too high he can't sell them as "organic" - crazy.
Alice, I think I misled with the quarter acre phrase - what I meant was we have raised beds and I'd like to add more over the 1/4 acre we have open. My beds are very similar to yours. I'll try to take a pic tomorrow but the vines don't look very good - these 105 degree days are taking their toll. Re: water usage, AZ doesn't restrict water ever, can you believe it? I guess there are so many golf courses and people would throw a fit if residences had restrictions while golf courses water like crazy.
I don't know why I can't post pics here anymore, a link will have to do...
