NELSON GAVE IN

Dec 20, 2009 3:03 AM
I hardly ever say anything about politics, I just don't like the subject much. I did hear on the news last night that NE Senator Ben Nelson has now agreed to sigh the healthcare bill, he will be the 60th deciding vote on it. I have always liked Ben, he did a good job as Nebraska's governor, seemed okay to me as a senator, but I don't know if this healthcare bill going through is good or not.
I have hoped for years healthcare would become more affordable, so many people are without it, & I know for myself, I have not filled some prescriptions because of the cost, as I am now on medicare.
Pharmaceutical companies & doctors have a real racket going with the prices they charge, but I don't see them being reeled in even alittle with this bill going through.
We want to trust that they know what's best, but even I am losing any hope of that. I am not so sure Senator Nelson will keep his job for Nebraska after this, but I guess time will tell:(

IMHO

I have not seen the bill, nor has anyone else it seems. The perception so far is that it does nothing to lower costs, rather it will raise them. Is this the 'reform' we were looking for? Another perception is that it is all about passing a bill, regardless of content, with health care in the title to satisfy the egos of certain political leaders.

That pretty much sums it up.

And Sen. Nelson did not give in - he sold out. The rest of the American taxpayers will now be paying Nebraska's Medicaid bill. Good for Nebraska but for expensive for the rest of us.

There was no "giving in", this is just a little game they play to make people think they are fighting for the best deal possible crap. It's probably scripted behind closed doors like wrestling.

Until they guarantee their health care will be exactly the same as ours at the same cost, this is nothing but a scam.

The scumbag sold out. Plain and simple.
He was bought at the expense of all taxpayers of this country.
He should be put in jail for theft!

I think he sold out too. It kind of surprised me that he did, I thought he may be the one hold out to get the thing reworked some more. I just don't see this as being helpful for the people who need it most, & am very disappointed that a Nebraska senator was the one to start the "beginning of the end".

Harry's been running ads here "He's the most powerful senator Nevada has ever had, and Harry Reid's working harder than ever to get Nevada's economy back on track,". Those ads need to be changed to say "He's the most powerful senator Nevada Nebraska has ever had, and Harry Reid's working harder than ever to get Nevada's economy back on track ruin the nation's economy,"

I'm not surprised he caved.
I think alot of these senators are caught in compromising postions somewhere along the way,and when the votes are needed ,these pictures are being pulled out,and the blackmailing begins.
It's too weird that these senators cave so easily.

They sure don't seem to be helping the economy any at all. But maybe if I had the kind of money these politicians had, I wouldn't worry about it either....jerks.

It's all about complete control of our lives.
When they control your healthcare, food ,energy, they got control over you.
Now just make sure you are able to pay your healthcare every month when it passes or you will end up in jail.

There may be some truth to that on the other side of Congress. I've always wondered how Nancy Pelosi became Speaker of the House and how Mr. Rangel, the tax cheat, has retained his chairmanship of House Ways and Means Committee responsible for tax legislation.

It will be interesting to see how many more deals like Sen. Nelson got will be struck to get a joint healthcare bill passed by both the Senate and House. The vote in the House was so close that Speaker Pelosi may have to pull the dirt out as well to get a compromise bill passed.

This whole healthcare reform fiasco has been partisan arm twisting at its worst. And the CBO fantasy cost numbers are a disgrace - 3-4 years of revenue generation plus bureaucratic expansion (mostly not included in cost figures) with few actual healthcare benefits.

And just when are they going to start cutting Medicare and Medicaid fraud and waste which has not been addressed in the past decade???
