Howdy, We'd like to get your feedback on the category structure for Slot Cars. We think it might improve the browsing experience if we broke out the brands with more than 75 listings into their own subcategories within the different scales. Please have a look at the brands broken out below as "NEW" and let us know if you think we've got it right, or if we've missed some. Slot Cars [2616] Modern (1970-Now) Accessories HO [2619] AFX/Aurora (NEW) Artin (NEW) Johnny Lightning (NEW) Life Like (NEW) Tyco (NEW) Other 1/24 [2617] 1/32 [4781] Carrera (NEW) Fly (NEW) Monogram, Revell (NEW) Scalextric (NEW) Other (NEW) Vintage (Pre-1970) Accessories [7319] HO [2618] Aurora/AFX (NEW) Tyco (NEW) Other (NEW) 1/24 [2620] 1/32 [4782] Other [776] Please provide your feedback by August 1st. Thanks for your help on this effort. Best regards, -Jim Jim Migdal Senior Category Manager, Toys & Hobbies

Hi, GET RID OF VINTAGE/MODERN/ETC DESIGNATION in ALL of toys! Not just the slot cars! In the Hot Wheels section I remember there is was a VINTAGE section, and that could have meant cars made in '60s, or the vintage series that was made in the mid 90s..

I agree with the comments re: deleting the "vintage" and "modern" classifications. I think that SCALE, i.e., HO, 1/32, 1/24 and "other" are sufficient, plus a further breakdown into cars, parts and accessories is enough. The more sub-categories that you have, the more likely that the searcher will miss something. The modern/vintage breakdown has been abused/misinterpreted by sellers to the point that it is no longer meaningful. Ditto the listing of keywords that do not relate to the item for sale. If the item is Strombecker, say so, but do not allow the addition of other keywords like Scalextric, Russkit, Cox, etc. The buyers, and most of the sellers understand that most of the slot stuff is more or less compatible. Thanks, Dan Wilson

Looks like this good idea bit the dust. I believe keeping it simple is best for everyone, but the current vintage/modern structure is horrible and definitely needs to be changed. Can't we just have them broken out by scale and be done with it? Having HO cars under two different headings makes it too hard - often sellers will mislist items, and as a buyer what I am looking for was right there all along...just mislisted.

a lot of folks don't seem to know what scale they have - and a lot of parts are used for both 1/32 and 1/24. I don't pay any attention to categories, I search within all of slot cars.

Hello, I believe breaking it down by the scales is the most important part. The brands: there are so many different brands-could all be listed. I personally like looking at all the different brands. Breaking it down will confuse the customers and the could limit some of the possible views. If needed the customers can type in the search for the particular brand they are looking for- Offer the big picture and let the customer choose-not confuse them. Also the vintage catagory should be eliminated-unimportant except to a very small group. I don't feel we need to seperate the cars, parts or tracks-the listings should list these so the customer can type them into the search if needed. Keep it simple-less confusing to all...Thanks

Some might want to note that this is a very old post (2005) so they no longer care what you want.

Can you Einsteins fix the diecast category. I don't want to list my vintage Tomica together with new Hot Wheels, Johnny lightning , etc.
Fix it.. and also fix GI JOE. Why lump all action figures together. Who did this last changed should be switched over to cleaning toilets.
