Don,

Can you share where you found the $100 bonding service?

I am glad to see that there is finally going to be some regulation of TAs. I hope similar regulations will be enacted in all states. Reputable TAs will have nothing to worry about, but now maybe there will be some recourse for those victimized by dishonest TAs.

Oh wonderful, you hope for additional "tax" on individuals in other states like the one just levied on TA's on PA. Just what we all need is more licenses (aka taxes).

It's not worth making eBAY more money as TA's with us TA's being taxed for the priviledge. That's why I quit my successful and honest TA hobby. Since Ebay supports buyers more than they support sellers, no way am I going to make more money for Ebay and be taxed in PA for the priviledge.

See Ya eBay!

This is assuming the law provides for those victimized by dishonest TAs. Bottom line is the law is only a result of the traditional auction industry crying foul and raising a stink and lawmakers not understanding what a TA is and does.

As for dishonest TAs, they probably will work without complying with the regulations and not register as required by PA law and thus victimized clients will continue to get shafted.

This puts a hardship on those TAs that may comply with the law, as they now have additional regulations and license and bonding fees to pay.

So on top of the $100 fee that we owe, what is a $5000 bond? Do I have to pay that or is that insurance? Can someone explain that to me? Thanks

Another issue is that few TAs are probably even aware of the law and are lacking in compliance.

A bond is like insurance. You pay a premium and you are covered. The PA auction board web site and application has information on bonding.

all of this just another way the democratax lawmakers...

Blame it on a democrat if you wish, but if you checked your facts, the primary sponsor of this bill was Republican Senator Wonderling. And the PA Senate has a Republican majority. And all 50 Senators voted yes, including 29 Republicans and only 21 Democrats.

And the PA House had 191 voting yes and only 7 voting against.

Of course any bill targeting business must be the work of an evil democrat. ;) And this was done to protect PA consumers from bad TAs that cheated their customers. Yet the vast majority of TAs in PA remain unlicensed.

Perhaps Johnnyoxxx listens to FOX news or perhaps he is a teabagger which explains his ignorant statement about PA democrats.
