I became certified to teach and found it very worthwhile.
First..access to eBay's teaching materials...PP presentations, student manuals...all well done and professional. Secpnd, website scheduling...third, discussion forum for ESs...although I don't go there, I know it's there if I need info...it's all good.
But as a TA, I found the single most valuable thing of all was...after taking a class from me, most folks just decided to go ahead and have me sell their stuff

.
Really, selling here has quite a steep learning curve. It's no picnic.
I have a customer from my old consignment shop who has a very valuable item she wants to sell on eBay (about $600) and she wants to pay me to teach her how to sell, so she doesn't have to pay me a commission to just sell it for her. Now, let's assume that since she's a good acquaintance and former customer, that I offered her a 30 percent commission...that would be a little under $200 on a $600 sale. Now, is there ANY way I can teach her to do it herself, without pretty much charging her the same amount? Not likely at all.
Then, she told me that she went to our local high end women's consignment shop (it's a garment) and that they told her their commission was 60%. She just thought that was the most ludricrous thing! Don't you just HATE people who think we shouldn't be entitled to make a living selling off their unwanted stuff!!
