Cell phone, Video Game Accessories sellers: Update to new sub-categories
May 17, 2011 02:42 PM
Attention cell phone and video games Accessories sellers: To help buyers find your cell phone and video game accessories faster, we revised the classification structure in these categories on April 5. Changes included the creation of two new accessory subcategories: Cell Phone & PDA Accessories and Video Game Accessories. To save you time and effort, whenever it was possible we migrated cell phone and video game accessory listings into one of these new subcategories. For example, a listing in Cell Phone & PDA Accessories > Other with the item title of “iPhone hard case” has been moved to Cell Phone & PDA Accessories > Cases, Covers & Skins. To maximize exposure for your items, please immediately review your Cell Phone & PDA Accessories or Video Game Accessories listings to confirm that they are the correct subcategories. To benefit most from these recent changes, we encourage you to:
  • Always use the new accessory subcategories for any new listings. If you use old subcategory IDs (#20336 for Cell Phone Accessories and #139969 for Video Game Accessories) your listing is automatically moved to the “Other” subcategory (#42425 for Cell Phone Accessories and #49230 for Video Game Accessories). This may result in shoppers not finding your items.
  • Update any existing listings that are in the “Other” subcategory to the appropriate subcategory. If your item is a part for repair, please also note that there are new categories for Replacement Parts & Tools.
  • To ensure that listings migrated on your behalf remain in their new subcategories update them with any new category IDs. Automatically relisting items with old category IDs may result in them being moved to the “Other” subcategory.
  • To optimize exposure for your listing, always include item specifics.
Take action now to take full advantage of these changes that were designed to help buyers find your listings faster and easier. For more info, check out the Spring 2011 update. Posted on behalf of eBay Seller Support. Nino, eBay Community Development
