Having to relist games because buyer claims kids bid on it.

I am sick and tired of having to relist my video games because the winning bidder claims that their son/daughter has bid and won this item without their knowledge, so they refuse to pay for the item. So how is it that you let your children use your ebay account? Shouldn't there be a way of reporting this to ebay and have a penalty for it? I mean come on people you seriously walk away from your computer and let your kids use your ebay or worse yet give them your password. Now I have to wait an extra week just to claim the unpaid item and get a refund on my final value and listing fees. If this only happened once I could live with it but its getting to be a regular problem for me here.

Unpaid items are part of the game.  Not much you can do about it.  I have heard that excuse many times as well as every other one you can think of.  All you can do is refuse to cancel the transaction and make them pay the price for not paying by opening a UPI.

its sad but if you sell video games its very common to get a non-paying bidder,

this is partly to thank to good ol ebay for supplying those nice little ads of similar items once someone has won something.

they win than ebay shoves all these similar items in their face that havnt sold or received any bids that are much cheaper.

so chances are its people finding the same game elsewhere cheaper.

best thing to do for all of us is to set your upi assistant up to open on day 4 and close asap. striking bidders acct with a upi and preventing fdbk as well.

I once had the opposite happen; where the seller complained that their "kid" listed some games without their knowledge and wanted me to back out of the deal after having paid.  I guess they were upset that I was the only bid and they did not have a nice little bidding war to drive the price up.

Happens on both sides I guess.

and unfortunately sellers this isnt your market,e bay could do way more to prevent the competition from flashing in front of the buyer but as a buyer ill find it anyway.sellers may have better luck on craigslist for some kinds of items.

Helping buyers find the best price while they are shopping for a game is a good thing. Showing buyers cheaper alternatives after they have commited to buy something is just foolishness that causes problems. It's like if you were paying for a game at gamestop and the clerks were laughing behind the counter about what an idiot you are.

When I buy something at amaz.. they show other similar games I might be interested in and sometimes I am and I buy more. They don't try to queer the deal by confusing me with other options on the same game.

Saying my kid bid on it is a very common lie as an excuse for buyers remorse. It's also a very stupid lie because you can get frozen or booted for allowing minors to use your account.

Since there is no way for a seller to force a buyer to pay it doesn't matter what the buyer says. So if your going to lie you should at least make it interesting.

the mafia broke my thumbs and I can no longer game

I was smoking crack when i bid on your junk

I spent all my money on guns and ammo so I can't pay

My rabbit ran across the keyboard and bid

I thought I was downloading porn

If it's a fixed price just add immediate payment required ... other then that you really can't do anything.

I have also gotten these issue where "kids" buy and the "parents" say they want to cancel ... The best solution is to ignore them and open a non-paying buyer report.

Half of the time it's just an excuse and the other half is just plain stupid and getting irrated should no longer be an option ... since it's happened so many times.

I have also gotten either the same excuse or another and then I see if they found a cheaper deal and if they have it's more of a reason to not let them go scott free.

Too bad sellers can no longer leave negatives. e.bay should allow us to warn other sellers that this buyer has a record of not paying!

I used a fixed price listing and required immediate payment, I still got the "my 5 year old bought this without my knowledge". Why does your 5 year old have access to your eBay and PayPal account and why were they doing anything without your knowledge?! Item has shipped, don't give your 5 year old access to your PayPal account...
