I like to get playstation 3 game patches for playstation 3 games, but unless I read about a patch going live on the playstation blog or just see a prompt because I check for updates one day, I have no way of knowing when patches are available.

 

I have over 100 playstation 3 games, some of which never get updates, others get only 1 update and others get as many as 8 to 10 updates over times. Is there any way that I can know ahead of time about updates other then manually checking every game that I have?

How do you cheat if you are patching your playstation 3 games?

if you are patching them then why do you need to know about it ahead of time.

most updates are only to fix current bugs/glitches, not add more content.

the only time someone would want to avoid a patch would be if they are manipulating a glitch(cheating).

so I'm not sure I understand your concern with this???

you could always check the developers sites to see if they mention any upcoming updates but this would take you more time than just sticking the game in and checking yourself..

so again I dont understand why you feel the need to know about these before hand??

I've seen some games get updates long after they are released.

yes I agree.. thats basically what I just said. a good developer will continue to patch games for a long time if there are enough people still playing the game and there are any issues.

 

Ill ask a third time.. since your avoiding your own question..

how would you benefit from knowing a patch will be coming out ahead of time???

If I read about a patch going live, on the blog, then I'll know about it. Sometimes patches will come out, I'll won't know about it and then I'll find out when I check, days or weeks later.

 

The point being is that there is no way to be notified about updates on the playstation 3 for games. It's not a huge concern, but it would be nice to have an option where you check for updates or if there could be a certain day where updates go live.

 

When Microsoft, they patch their Windows systems the second Tuesday of each month. It would be great if Sony could do the same thing.

there is a way to find out...you stick your disc in and it either tries to update or it doesnt.;)

I still dont understand your concern with this. there is not 1 advantage i can think of.... but hey, to each their own.

I would rather have my game update the day it was available and not have to wait til the "second tuesday of each month".

you could always go back to the crapbox!

 

btw: would you update every game you own? even games you no longer play? why would you want to waste HD space updating games you no longer play?
