At a recent auction I bought a box of jewelry (mostly very inexpensive pieces) which also contained a Driva woman's watch. I haven't been able to find out much about that brand, except that the company was apparently started in Geneva in 1924. The jeweler I took it to said he could repair it for $50.00, and I told him to go ahead, although I may be wasting my money. Are these watches worth anything? This one has a spring-loaded bangle type band with a safety chain (not gold - silver-colored, but probably not silver). It is decorated with quite a few small baguette-style rhinestons. It's a neat piece, probably from the 50's? Not sure if I'll keep it to wear or list it. Anyone have any input on this one?
Thanks so much!

Marilyn,

I've seen a few Driva watches before, but its not a mainstream brand. I don't think they're even around anymore. The ones I've seen have been simple 14K gold watches from the 40s/50s. It surprises me that yours has rhinestones as the few nicer Driva examples I've seen all had genuine diamonds.

Most ladies vintage watches that aren't from a top Swiss maker tend to fetch barely more than scrap/melt value of the gold case and any stones unless they are very unique or are marketed particularly well.

Greg
