Golana watches?

I just got this watch, and never heard about this Golana brand, does anyone heard about it? It's a dress watch i guess around 70's, aprox 33mm diameter, Signed dial + "swiss made". Nice round case marked Plaque 10 orG, stainless steel back engraved Golana logo (very nice). Signed 17 jewels movement. Looks like an expensive well made watch.Its in very good condition no worn edges, and keeps time. Does anyone knows some history, worth? about it...

Just a random 'Brand Name' on a generic Swiss watch, probably with an ETA movement like many million others.

Its sole value is utilitarian, if it does the job you want it to do then it is earning its keep.

Golana watches is one of those Swiss brands that are better known in Europe. More specifically the UK. But they're beginning to make their way overseas as some of the bigger watch websites are starting to offer them (just google: "Golana Swiss Watch"). It's hard to say what your watch is worth without seeing it but the most expensive retail price I've seen was $1,200!!! If you're looking to start a collection, my advice is to start now BEFORE they really take off in the U.S. and prices go up (just my 2 cents).

Guess I never saw a $1200 watch in a 10 micron gold plated case. Better move that decimal point to the left at least 1 place and maybe 2. Or can you give us a pic of the movement, might see something there to make it valuable.

Cheap quartz watch with added marketing is still a cheap quartz watch.

No doubt the long experience of memorableartwork led him immediately to wish to defend the reputation of the nondescript Golana brand, and creating a new ebay ID to do it with was the obvious course, in order that we might treat his words with unbiased regard.

Or he could be a shill for Golana.

Am 10.12.2002 hat der Gerichtspräsident 4 des Gerichtskreises II Biel-Nidau das Konkursverfahren mangels Aktiven eingestellt. Tagebuch Nr. 286 vom 28.01.2003 (00842598 / CH-073.3.000.966-0) resumé: 2002 no capital left and therefore bankruptcy proceeding closed by judge. 2003: deleted from Commercial Registry. most probably someone will come along and declare me paranoid, but the fact is: this company is non-existing in Switzerland and a typical construct already mentioned in other threads. but as long as there is enough advertisement in glitzy and useless magazines, a homepage and some dorks like memorableartwork...

I found a pretty fancy website for Golana (http://www.golana.eu/history) that says that it was founded in 1956 by Heinz and Anna Goll.
In some discount websites, they are sold from low $100s (quartz) to mid $300s (auto).

I suppose 'negative discount' websites where you pay a specially inflated price rather than a cut one is an idea that had to come.

Fidbald has done a grand list of pseudo Swiss cheapies sold as good watches on another thread. There are bags of them.
