Panerai Divers Watch, Authentic or Repro??????

Hi Folks,
I know nothing about watches so I am coming straight to the experts for help.
My brother found this watch while walking on the beach in Newport Beach, Ca. The part of the band that attaches to the watch had broken. He put an ad in the paper but no one responded so he gave it to me.
The front reads, "Panerai Automatic Swiss" on the bottom and "Luminor GMT". The back reads, "Officine Panerai Firenze 1860 Divers Professional OP 6541 BB 000000 C000/500 Stainless Steel 1000m". The band is rubber and the watch is very heavy.
Any help would be deeply appreciated

The watch is a fake which explains why it was left on the beach.

Check the link, note the differences in the hands and the sub second dial

While this fake wasn't particularly good, I have to say that some of the Panerai Grade 1 fakes would fool all but the most experienced Panerai collectors... scary. In fact, there was a post a few months ago on the NAWCC discussion board by a well-known seller and watch book author admitting he was fooled by a Panerai replica and couldn't tell the difference until someone pointed out a couple of screws finished differently on the movement.

hei guys i have one exactly like the one he described, but mine doesnt say GMT it says marina, how can i know if its fake/

Did you find out if it's a fake or not because I have a similar one and would like to know what sets a fake apart from an original!
