We're compiling many of the common questions and answers about several of the changes introduced in Stephanie’s Announcement on July 27th. They'll be posted in threads like this one and tacked to the top of the board to make it easy to find information (instead of needing to comb through all the various discussions). These are actual member questions and staff responses, with some slight cleanup to make them easier to read. More topics will be posted in the next few days. These...

What plans does eBay have to educate the Buyers on the new DSR ratings system ? Is there any system in place to identify Buyers that consistently leave poor DSR ratings no matter how stellar the seller might be? If not, how does eBay plan to protect a seller from buyers with a history of such behavior? Thanks! Ken

All of our listings are auction-type. Almost all begin at $.99 or $9.99. To date, our policy on insuring shipments has been that insurance is a requirement for a win, or a combination of wins, of $25 USD (or more). It makes no sense to require insurance on a $.99 item, but it does (to us) on an item that opens at $.99 but closes at $25 (or more) or for 25 items that close at $.99 each. As these are auction-type listings, the insurance cost cannot be factored into the opening bid (if...

As a very small seller, I am concerned that I will be penalized in item exposure, because I do not sell at the level prescribed by eBay. This has been a difficult and busy year for me. I have not had time for eBay sales. Now I am being told that in spite of excellent DSRs, my listings will receive less bang for their buck, because I have not made the $3K threshold. I am paying for exposure; I do not expect it to be lowered. (And, please, do not answer this with a sugar-coated "all you need to...

Dear eBay, Mostly I am very happy with the upcoming changes, and think it's clear that you really did listen to sellers. Thank you. One concern I have is the criteria for top-rated seller status. The 100 items per year seems very reasonable, but the $3,000/year requirement does not if you sell part-time and have mostly low-priced items. This is especially true in this economy where both sales volume and prices are way down. My customer service record has been unblemished... I've never...

RE a statement made by Bennie@ebay.com Transactions are counted regardless of whether or not DSRs were left for those transactions. Please note that a transaction does not equal items sold. If you sell multiple items to a buyer in one transaction, this counts as one transaction. Also, a reminder that we're only looking at US buyer transactions. Perhaps multiple quantity sold and non-US buyers gives the difference between 400 and 275. Thanks! -bennie@ebay.com 1. If I have a buyer...

in the just released announcement you write, "...eBay Top-rated sellers will... (have)...exclusive access to purchase Featured First and a prominent Top-rated seller badge on item pages. The Top-rated seller badge will be tested in search results pages this summer. The current PowerSeller icon will no longer be displayed on buyer-facing pages including item pages." AM I MISSING SOMETHING...are you telling me that i'm going to have the OPPORTUNITY to "PURCHASE" a new power seller logo that...

The shipping cost and shipping time are really the only DSR areas potentially affected negatively by International buyers misunderstanding of higher costs and longer time. There is no factor skewing perception of Item Description and Communication between domestic and international buyers that I can think of. That's potentially alot of DSR's to lose in those catagories. Can make or break eligibility for Top-Rated 100 transactions and $3000 Kind of like throwing the baby out with the...

For the purpase of determining Top-Rated. Where can one find - besides adding up from sales reports, I suppose - the total sales for the "year" that is being used for the calculations for Top Rated? One would also need to know the date perimeters of the "year" that is being used. Is it always the 15th or was it the 20th of the previous month? I added up my totals from the Sales Reports, but absent going laboriously thru my own records, don't know exactly which is which. [never...
