No one is home on the booksellers board. I have an old hymnal I'd like to sell. It was printed in 1939. Is it vintage or antique or just OLD? Also, it's in very poor condition. Will that prevent the sale? Thank you very much. You only pass this way but once. If there is any good you can, do it now. You will not pass this way again.

I believe it is similar to a Little Black Sambo. I can't find any with the exact title mine has. I have Little Brown Koko At Work and Play. Date on it is 1959. Nothing in completed listings. Wanting an idea of the price it could sell for. No ISBN# to cheat from. I really stink at the book selling!

I think the answer is yes! A lot of smaller book seller chains and independents have shut down. Even the majors can be affected: B.Dalton has had a space in Highland Mall in North Austin, TX for years and they are closing 6/14. Barnes & Noble in the Arboretum area of Northwest Austin still has good traffic for now, but who knows how long that will last? Two reasons I think account for this: #1: PRICE-who in the world is going to pay $10 for a paperback novel or $30 for a hardback. Not...

Last week, I took some books over to my local library -nothing spectacular, just some Marvel and DC comic trade paperback compilations, I took some over late last year and figured it was time to unload some more. To my surprise, the library refused to accept my books! I asked why, and the librarian said something to the effect that this was a "system wide policy" and that no more donations will accepted. I told her that the library accepted my books last fall, and she said that was...

I found a copy of Helene Hanff's The Duchess of Bloomsbury Street and as with 84, Charing Cross Road and Q's Legacy the book is utterly charming. If you love books find a copy of 84, Charing Cross Road and read it. I just checked the river and there are copies as cheap as 11 cents plus shipping. 11 cents! An insult to this fine, fine book. Read it. You will not be disappointed. The book will stay with you forever. Pretty good movie also with Anthony Hopkins and Anne Bancroft. In my...

A contributor here mentioned that she loves art books but finds them very expensive, as indeed they are. As someone who tries to make some income from selling used books, I of course look to buy books at used book sales that I hope will be saleable. In my area, some of the library book sales always have these big, beautiful, and beautifully preserved art books for sale, both of classical and more modern artists, at one or two dollars each. I drool when I see them and say to myself--surely I...

Stuart Woods is the only author I know who solicits and then responds to e-mails. I have found him to be very responsive and get a kick out of hearing from him. Anyone else have experience e-mailing Stuart Woods? Are there any other authors out there who do the same?
