I am pretty new to this. I sold an item and bought USPS insurance. The buyer emailed me thru eBay and told me it arrive but was damaged in shipment. He asked for guidance. I said I'd take care of it and asked him to email me pics of broken items so I could file claim on line with USPS. I have sent a total of 3 emails asking for the info but he hasn't answered any of my emails or responded in any way. What are my responsibilities trying to be a good seller. I don't want to have him just...

Before I get to the problem here is a little background first: I run a very large consignment company and we insure everything for OUR protection! (Keep in mind this is NOT our product) We run mainly auctions, the vast majority starting at $0.99 and the ones that we list with starting prices are extremely reasonable, our sell through is nearly 90%. (We don't make any money if it doesn't sell). Our feedback is 99.9%, our stars are all above eBay averages except for shipping at 4.68 likely...

Just got off the phone with an eBay representative. So here's the scoop on the latest Insurance policy: For those of us who have incorporated our insurance policy into our item descriptions or include it into "Additional Checkout Instructions" - you won't be able to revise your listing to remove any reference to insurance. You can add an additional note below your current item description that states you are counteracting your first description, but eBay is "very sorry" that that will be...

Hi Everyone, I have only posted a couple of times. I usually just read all the problems and solutions. But I just have to talk to some one. I receive the AuctionBytes.com news letter and this morning I was reading this article: Shifting Insurance Costs to the Seller As part of the Seller Responsibilities policy, eBay will prohibit sellers from offering shipping insurance as an optional fee, but it will require sellers to make sure their item arrives as described. Sellers will be able to...

I bought cheap 1.32 pair of earrings with free shipping no mention of insurance. Was charged 3.00 for insurance and contacted seller and she said her business was bad and she needed the money. Does she have the right to do this? I paid the 3.00 and its very petty of me but I don't think I should pay that? Am I wrong? Thank you

I am investigating various options for insurance given eBay's upcoming changes and notice that auctiva excludes coverage : 1. when the parcel 'bears a descriptive label or packaging which tends to describe nature of contents' 2. for 'personal goods' My questions are: 1. Would putting a label on the package that says 'FRAGILE' or 'GLASS - handle with care' tend to describe the nature of contents? 2. What consitutes 'personal goods'? I

I've been a seller on eBay since the second year they started. I have 8800 feedbacks. I'm a Gold Powerseller and sell antiques & collectibles. So far, no one has agreed with the eBay insurance policy, other then the fake eBay employees who might respond to all the complaints. eBay suggests we try using a 3rd party insurer. I tried a third party insurer and they dropped us after we filed 3 claims. In two instances the Fedex Truck drove over the items. I have shipped over 10,000...

I'm just wondering what the general consensus is in this matter. I have had a shipment damaged that was insured through Auctiva's insurance. It's the first time I have ever had to deal with an insurance claim....my buyer sent me a message this morning asking me to go ahead and refund her in full and I can wait for the claim to pay out. Am I wrong in thinking that is not how an insurance claim should work? I package my items extremely well and it's unfortunate that the USPS chose to damage...

THERE IS DEFINITELY A PROBLEM WITH PAY PALS RESOLUTION CENTER WHEN ALL PROTECTION GOES TO THE BUYER. WE ARE FORCED TO USE PAY PAL AS INDIVIDUAL SELLERS. WHEN THERE IS INSURANCE ON AN ITEM AND THE BUYER REFUSES TO MAKE A CLAIM WITH THE POSTAL SERVICE FOR A BROKEN ITEM AND INSTEAD FILES A CLAIM WITH PAY PAL AS NOT AS LISTED. AND THEN REMOVES ALL PROOF OF INS. AND MAILING BEFORE RETURNING THE ITEM IS NOT FAIR TO THE SELLER BECAUSE THEN THE POSTAL SERVICE TELLS US THERE IS NO PROOF THAT THIS IS THE...

I thought insurance was optional. On one part of the seller's page it says that insurance is optional, then another part where it says it is required by Paypal. What is the deal with insurance and is a buyer required to pay for it?

I don't know if I've just hit a bad streak lately. This will be the third time recently that I've had to ask the seller to refund the insurance money I've paid because the package was not insured. Anyone else noticing an increase in this practice?
