Ask Griff - New Format Hi all, It's no secret: keeping up with my Ask Griff thread has, in the last few months, proven to be a challenge, to say the least! And for this I apologize. My list of eBay tasks and responsibilities has grown longer recently and along with the volume of email I receive, it's been harder to stay on top of my own projects, like for example, Ask Griff (which, as I mentioned at the onset back in Jan 2009, is entirely my own project and not one that was handed to...

All sellers should make sure they read this new announcement about properly declaring selling prices on customs declaration form: ***Reporting Value on Customs Declarations*** August 22, 2006 | 01:59PM PST/PT Postal administrations in several international countries have contacted the United States Postal Service about the declaration of value placed on customs forms. They have noted that in many cases, the declared value is understated when compared to the actual invoice or known...

It is very important that all sellers with non-paying bidders file unpaid item disputes if payment is not received from buyers. Since negative feedback can no longer be left for buyers who do not pay to warn other sellers, filing an unpaid item dispute has become more import than ever. Filing a dispute and then closing it eight days later will give the buyer a strike towards suspension and is the only way sellers have to protect each other from bad buyers. It is also important to file...

I hear some people stating things about the ebay employees. I do have to give at least some of them credit. I've had a few non paying bidders, that would not respond to my reminder notices or the unpaid item process but they left negs anyway. I was able to get the phone # (after going through several screens of course) called them, explained the situations...and had the negs removed right away. They were able to see how I did try to contact them w/email (through ebay server) ...and that...

1. PayPal might consider the payment fraud or suspicious and reverse it 2. Buyer emails you a few hours later asking for change of address Learned it from experience. If you ship with PayPal then you might be able to avoid number 1 but there were a few times when PayPal would not ask questions- deduct out of my account and send a payment cancellation email.

Try to make this long story short. 1 buyer bought a bunch of books from me..I combined and even reduced s/h --barely made anything on some but glad to find another home for them. Began sending off boxes--he asked about 1 so I told him when it was sent (Feb. 16) The other day (march 11) it was returned to me marked unclaimed/return to sender and 3 dates on box. (I also had to pay $7.45 to claim pkg back) I contacted buyer about to tell him about the pkg being returned. I asked if he was...

I have a situation where a Canadian buyer bought an old magazine supplement from a Sunday newspaper from 30 years ago and it has no price on it. I sold it for $19.95. He wants me to say on the Customs Declaration that it is worth $5.00. I don't put a packing slip with my magazine sales, so I don't know what the problem would be. They are usually very well taped flat envelopes with cardboards inside to protect the contents, so I don't know what red flags Canadian customs might see to open it....

I sold an item to a certain buyer who has since returned it saying that item was damaged upon receipt. When Item was received it was NOT in the same condition as when I sent it to buyer, it had been worn and smelled like perfume, had human and or pet hair all over it. am I required to refund an item that is damaged by the buyer then claimed to be that way when received? what actions should I take? should I just send it back to the buyer? not sure what to do next as I have never had anything...

I’ve been with eBay for a long time and generally have gone along with things without complaining. I am afraid they may have done themselves in this time though and instead of another profitable year, they will be giving things away to new sellers to get business back. Why? 1. The owners have surrounded themselves with highly paid “YES” men and women management. I have noticed in the live forums that they “sell” the idea of the new changes and ignore and do not address the many...

Exactly how much USD is taken for FVF of an auction style .99 cent listing, and how much USD does PP take out of that and what do we end up with? Thanks,

Hopefully this isn't a big deal, but maybe some of you have gone through this before and can help me. I have had the same ISP and email address for over ten years. I've never had a reason to change. But I got an email recently that my ISP (AT&T Worldnet) will be discontinuing their Internet service. I decided that this is the push that I need to change to a faster Internet service. The problem is that my AT&T email address is currently linked to everything, including eBay and Paypal....
