This advice relates to a particular scam carried out by some people living in Nigeria but elements of it may be useful for other scam buyers. HOW THE SCAM WORKS The scammer lives in Nigeria but because they're pretending to live somewhere else they ask for the item to be sent to a relative or friend in Nigeria (really themselves). They persuade the seller to send the goods on receipt of a fake payment confirmation email, usually from Paypal but also from various banks, Western...

All members should read this important warning. If you shop on websites other than eBay, you should exercise caution if someone emails you claiming to be an eBay representative! We are seeing an increase in reports of fake eBay Motors transactions that originate automotive websites other than eBay, such as Craigslist. Fraudsters are sending online shoppers fake email messages claiming to be from the eBay Trust and Safety Department, the eBay Motors Finance Center, an eBay Escrow...

After reading these boards, I now know it's the smartest way to pay. However, when trying to pay, the default is my paypal balance. I select the "More Funding Options" link, and am only given the options of "Bill Me Later", Paypal Balance, and e-check. I go to my profile, and it show I have a credit card listed. I go to the "more funding options" page again, see the link in the upper right hand corner for "Add a credit card", and select that. I add one different to the one on file. It...

I filed an Item Not Received with Paypal on Dec 11, and the seller refunded my money. (Long story: no communication, the guy now has 4 negs this month, and only communicated with me when i posted a negative: by offering me 50 bucks to change my neg.) Well, today I get an email that he has put up a 'non-paid item dispute' or whatever... I called Ebay and they basically told me to pay the guy again to solve my problem. What? You can't be serious. Paypal says I have to talk to Ebay and Ebay was...

I recently purchased about $2000 in gift cards on ebay and all went well until I received an envelope via Certified Mail that contained a receipt for a Lowes merchandise card with a value of $277, but no card. The envelope was torn and doesn't appear it was ever sealed. Because my post office required me to sign the card before they gave me the item, I had already signed for it before I saw the condition of the envelope (which is stamped as damaged). However, within 2 seconds of the woman...

I just sold a cell phone for not much money, but the buyer has 0 feedback, not a problem for me. However, the Paypal payment transaction is from a person who is not the one going to receive the package. Like person A sent me a payment, and there is a person B and his/her address which is verified by Paypal going to get my package. Bith payment and address are eligible. What to do?

I'm dealing with a scam buyer on a vehicle that just sold using the "BIN" button. They want to send me a check (FedEx of UPS) for more than the amount with instructions were to wire the overpayment to cover the shipping. The buyer says she's deaf, hence no phone. The shipper works out of his vehicle, thus no address and the buyer is going to get back with me with a phone number for the shipper. I've been to this movie and know how it ends. Ebays' "help" is no help at all. On the help page...

I recently placed a camcorder up for sale and it was purchased by a first time ebay user. I received what appeared to be a payment received email from paypal which turned out to be a phishing email. I was not able to verify that the payment was made through my account and replied to the email adress on the email. Mistake I believe they accessed my account because the login bar briefly appeared on my screen. Should I leave it in feedback that it was a scam and can I get my fees reimbursed from...

Do I call police there or start in my own police dept? Thank you for any info. If this gets deleted then I will most likly close my account and move on. But its not me...its my girls money...

People worry about Safety on Ebay..I have been scammed a few times..but percentage I would rate Amazon as being a bust..25% of my purchases on amazon were miss represented or not sent at all..Ebay is relatively safer than other sites overall. Based on my experiences
