Re: Top-rated Seller Discussion

Oct 5, 2009 10:05 AM
The search pop-up window takes buyers away from all possible listings by making TRS listings visible only, even if the only item available from a non-TRS exists, it will not show because the search eliminates all but the TRS. This is not fair, sellers with perfect feedback and high DSRs who are not TRS only because they are not a powerseller are being eliminated from the search. This search, which does not show anywhere on the screen a notation such as NOTE:ALL ITEMS AVAILABLE WILL NOT SHOW WHEN TRS SEARCH CRITERIA IS USED, is misleading for buyers. Many will think the item is not available when it actually is, just not from a powerseller who meets the TRS criteria. And how fair is this for your new sellers? They don’t stand a chance with this new search in place. Is ebay advising new sellers of this?

Why was the change in powerseller requirements not rolled out hand-in-hand with the initiation of the TRS program?

Re: Top-rated Seller Discussion

Can you tell us why this top seller search was put into use before at least some sellers, who were qualified, got into the program during the biggest selling season?

Can you understand that those sellers feel that they are being “disadvantaged” during one of the few biggest months?

Can you understand why those same sellers are mad as heck after being “reminded” for months they were top sellers, to look forward to the program, to keep up the good work, to watch for the the powerseller invite-which never came? If the intent was to wait til after 10/1 to issue the invite-WHY were we told to “watch” for it as early as Aug.?

Can you tell us WHY customer service was telling same sellers we were NOT qualified as top sellers as we weren’t powersellers and couldn’t be powersellers as we didn’t have $12,000 in sales and therefore couldn’t be top sellers. That happened to people on Fri. and many sellers are now confused as to whether they are top sellers or not, despite emails from Ebay and logo being displayed prior to 10/1.

Can you tell us why the times of this forum was changed from 10-1 to 10-11 this morning, after being 10-1 all last wk? Does it occur to you that many sellers will come to try to get to it (at the previously posted times) and find it closed?

Can you understand why MANY sellers don’t trust ANYTHING ebay says?

There's been a great deal of speculation regarding who exactly qualifies for the TRS Program and when. If a Seller is not currently a Power Seller do they have to wait until April to be awarded the Ribbon Logo on their Listings and Profile pages?

Not all who qualify for TRS status have been invited into the program. When will we be allowed in?

Also, many of your live help people seem to think that one must be at least a Bronze Powerseller to be a TSR, which is not true. What are you doing to educate your live help? Thanks.

Just a piece of pond scum checking in here to pretty much echo Dorothysew's sentiments.

I was told for two months that I met the criteria.

Now I'm told that I don't because I'm not a power seller.

So in essence, because I don't make eBay enough money every month, you are now telling my customers not to even bother looking at my listings because I might defraud them?

I am so close to done, you could stick a toothpick in me and it'd come out clean...

I need a real reason to stay here besides 'wait until next April' when I supposedly will qualify for PS under the new rules. I don't think I can survive here another 6 months disadvantaged in search.

Re: Top-rated Seller Discussion

I do meet these requirements:

-- Meet the sales volume requirements for Top-rated seller status: 100
transactions and $3,000 in GMV over the past 12 months
-- Have no more than the maximum allowed instances of 1s or 2s on all detailed seller ratings (DSRs) from U.S. buyers:

I also meet these:
a seller with "less than 400 annual transactions: No more than two
instances of 1- or 2 star ratings on each one of the 4 DSRs over the
past 12 most recently completed calendar months.
-- Minimum average across all four DSRs (based on PowerSeller
requirement):
-- Current: 4.5 on global transactions
-- Starting in 2010: 4.60 on transactions with U.S. buyers.
-- Compliance with new Selling Practices policy requirements."

Why do I not yet have the TRS designation. Can I
expect to see it sometime over the next several days???

In essence there are many sellers who have been told they are going to qualify, and from the announcement on the new policy that starting in October those who qualfied for TRS will be receiving invites into the PS program. When they have contacted eBay customer service reps have told them that no, unless they are already a powerseller they won't be qualifying until next April.

I've never participated in a live forum before. Are they going to reply or are we just talking to ourselves?

Re: Top-rated Seller Discussion

On the Power Seller/Top Rated Seller Confusion thread back in July, bennie@ebay.com said:

"essentially, all the current requirements for the PowerSeller program are remaining unchanged until April, except in the case where the seller is meeting the Top-rated seller "quality requirements" - rates of 1s or 2s on DSR of 0.50% or less across all four DSR - where we drop the sales requirement down to $3000 annually with 100 transactions."

That quote would indicate that we should have received our invitation to the power seller program plus our top rated seller status, as our sales easily meet $3000 annually with 100 transactions, and our DSRs and all other feedback qualify.

So, was bennie wrong in July, or should we be receiving our powerseller invitation and TRS status any minute now?

I am a very small seller - the power seller status will never been in my reach, but my DSRs are in great standings, why can't I be considered a top rated seller?

It seems that the small sellers don't stand a chance for any of the awards - no matter how hard we try.

Re: Top-rated Seller Discussion

dorothysew,

All sellers who currently qualify for Top-rated seller are being treated as a Top-rated seller. We are expanding the definition to include sellers who currently do not meet PS status. Our commitment to the community was that we would do this in October. The invites will be sent the week of October 11th.

I understand your desire to be Top-rated, I'm glad to see the desire and that you perceive it as beneficial - that was the intent.

With major change we stagger the release to ensure a smooth release. By lowering the sales threshold from $12k per year to $3k per year we will add over 50k sellers to the Top-rated seller program.

I understand you upset, but I hope that you can understand our position to start with sellers who were qualified as of October 1.

Thanks

Brian

Just wanted to say thank you for the etrs program - and thanks for coming here to answer questions.

The eTrs search restriction option is a pretty giant step for ebay - what are the goals for having that search restriction and what level of usage do you expect to see?
